The point is, he's willing to do anything now that he's committed to the Sith ideology, & it's his satanic initiation ritual. Also, note how the blond boy resembles young Ani. Not a coincidence. Anakin symbolically kills his old self. The story requires him to personally do it.
For this scene I would have this moment linger an extra beat, then Anakin closes his eyes and says "Go."
Still confused but realizing they'd better listen to him, the children all rush past him and out of the chamber.
Immediately we hear a barrage of blaster fire and Anakin closes his eyes, clenches his jaw, and lowers his head, but only for a moment.
Shaking off his remorse, he raises his head, turns, and then also exits the chamber to continue his rampage with grim determination.
I say that because I have always felt that Anakin should have been focusing on the bigger fish (adult Jedi) while the clones handled cleanup work that would have included the younglings.
