Since AO3 is gonna be down for a long ass time apparently, here's some loustat fics in PDF and EPUB form (many are mine, some are not, if you start one of mine and it's clearly not finished I MIGHT be able to get a more updated version so feel free to ask)

Haven't seen anybody talk about how Lestat's reaction to the book is even more evidence he was not onboard with the trial, where an incorrect version of his story is shared to hundreds of people ready to laugh at it and his loved ones who are about to be executed
Probably felt to Lestat that Louis was just playing with him to get back at him yet again for something he didn't actually do and isn't comfortable clearing up yet, so of course he reacts the way he does: avoiding Louis altogether and making a big scene (distraction)!

We saw a glimpse of this when Louis remembered the "real" moment of Lestat showing him the suits he'd had made: rather than looking suave and confident like in ep 1.2, Lestat bites his lip nervously then smiles goofily. Louis remembering THAT, in that moment, always struck me.
