Serious post for once.
As many know I’ve suffered horrendously. The bad days of 2018 & 2021 and 2023 to an extent. I’d not wish this on my worst enemy. The night terrors, the intrusive thoughts, the flashbacks. The non- verbal, the self imploding, the hiding away , the abstaining from crowds or groups, the constant exhausting scanning for risk & danger.
I’ve learnt to “deal” with it. To accept it, yet it won’t leave me. It’s who I am.
But you can learn to manage it, to accept it, move on and make a new you. That’s what I did. But I’ll never pretend it wasn’t a struggle. And I KNOW I’ll relapse.
The help is there, I spoke out and got it. Life’s easier. Not fixed, but accepted and we move on.
Policing or blue light services can & will break you. Be attuned to the risk, the signs, your own mind. Speak up. Get help, talk to your colleagues. You. Are. Not. Alone.

If pensioners who get 12k per year are considered too well off to receive the winter fuel allowance, shouldn't MP's on 96k per year be considered too rich to receive housing, heating, travel, and meal subsidies?

Not again! I have NOT given my permission to be used in political adverts. This is NOT an endorsement by me in any way. I maintain strict party neutrality and am unhappy at the weaponizing of my reputation in this way.
While this isn't as bad as the first terrible representation – which said it this about tax - there's still a misdirection. As I’ve already stated, in that private conversation I was referring to Labour hoping to make a positive change I’ve been campaigning for, but it didn’t want to lock it in the manifesto as it can’t promise to deliver.
NO party’s manifesto tells the full story. ALL parties have things they hope to do but that aren’t in manifestos – as they can’t guarantee to deliver. The idea that Labour is an outlier for that is preposterous.
Labour's manifesto doesn't tell you the full story.

Martin Lewis has confirmed he hasn't consented to the use of his image/video for political campaigns and its use in the context is misleading

You may dislike the current incarnation of Labour and deplore their Brexit position. You may believe that one Tory MP more or less makes no real difference when we're facing a Labour landslide.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. The huge prize at this election is the Tories coming THIRD.
That would change absolutely everything.
It's the difference between them biding their time until they can regroup, and being finished forever as a political force.
Here's what they would lose by finishing up behind the LibDems:
- 6 questions at PMQs every week
- Automatic media coverage
- 17 Opposition Days when they get to set the agenda and hold votes
- First right to reply to key speeches like the King's Speech and the Budget
- A lot of their Short Money
- The right to form a Shadow Cabinet (other parties can mirror government functions but nobody really cares) as a government in waiting
- Chairs of several Select Committees
- Privy Council membership for senior figures
- Office of the Leader of the Opposition, with additional resources, funding and staff
As you can imagine, without any of that good stuff to fall back on, the path to rebuilding would be a vertical cliff.
That's why it's essential to vote tactically to get the Tories out, no matter what you feel about the current incarnation of Labour. (Personally I'm furious about their views on Brexit and other issues.)
The chance will never come again to wipe them out for good. Literally never. We will never see the perfect storm of factors converge again:
- 14 years of Conservative rule, marked by growing public discontent
- A string of mismanagement issues, from the PPE scandal to Brexit complications
- The rise of Reform UK, splitting the traditional Conservative vote and the perfect protest vote for people who would never vote Labour, LibDem or Green
- A resurgent Liberal Democrat party
- An astonishingly poor Conservative election campaign
And with the LibDems in Opposition, the topic of Brexit will finally get a proper and frequent airing. That will advance the cause of Rejoin more than any other action possibly could.
So hold your nose. Look past your frustration, your distaste, your anger, your apathy. And vote for whichever party can beat the Tories in your constituency.
Eyes on the prize. Always. Eyes on the prize.

URGENT! Pls share. The last chance to register to vote in the General Election is 11.59pm tomorrow Tue 18 June. Potentially 8m aren't registered at their current address. Here's 4 key facts...
1) You can do it online here registertovote.service.gov.u…
2) It's good for your finances. Not being on electoral roll can make it more difficult to be accepted for credit products like bank accounts or mortgages.
3) You can opt out of the 'Open Register' (which allows your info to be sold on) which will stop you getting junk mail marketing )
4) You'll need ID when you do vote (not to register) if you don't have it, you can get it free until Wed 26 June gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-vo…

If there’s a junior doctor out there who wants to go to tomorrow’s rally in Manchester, but is hesitating about the cost of getting there if not near one of the busses, DM me. Otherwise I’ll put what I would have spent on my train ticket into the @BMA_JuniorDocs Strike Fund.

Well, in the last 5 hours I’ve got definite virally feeling, scratching throat, sneezing & a weird disequilibrium feeling I had last time I had covid 🤔 Guess that means I can’t go to the #ConsultantsStrike rally in Man 2mor - nobody wants a yelling person with possible covid 😥
