NEW: People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) aircraft carrier Liaoning sailed near the Basilan Strait, located within the Philippine archipelago, on October 22. The People’s Republic of China (PRC) appears to be increasing its military activity around the Philippines to intimidate Manila to reduce its presence in the South China Sea and possibly accede to PRC territorial claims. Liaoning’s movements likely simulated breaking through the first island chain and possibly isolating the Philippines or Taiwan during a conflict. (1/2) Other Key Takeaway: The PRC is continuing to portray the United States as an aggressive hegemon in the space domain and suggesting that US space weapons development could result in a global arms race. The PRC is continuing to develop its own space capabilities, however, particularly counterspace and dual-use assets that could be used against US and allied weapons systems in a future conflict.

A blockbuster House ethics complaint filed alleges Lauren Boebert had sex with multiple staffers and issued six-figure payouts in hush money with taxpayer dollars. According to the complaint, Boebert is accused of carrying out sexual relationships with two former Chiefs of Staff and her District Director between 2021 and now. When reached for comment, the former spouse of one of the staffers Boebert was involved with stated “I assumed this would eventually surface, I’ll have no further comment on this topic.” Boebert is accused of mishandling federal taxpayer money, misusing campaign funds, and "witness tampering" regarding a $200k payout for one former staffer who threatened an ethics complaint.

Legacy media strikes again. Obama's "Cheesecake Factory" jibe is front page news at the Times. Fresh allegations about Trump and Epstein raping women together? Not so much. saltypolitics.substack.com/p…

While Trump admits he doesn’t give a damn about gas prices…  his oil and gas stocks gained tens of millions of dollars in the past year. He gets rich while Americans pay the price.

It's pretty telling that the entire right wing is clutching their outrage pearls over a Cheesecake Factory joke, but they're OK with a vile, disgusting attack ad that uses the person who allowed her own 12-year-old daughter to be raped for years. Spare us, "family values" party.

Lowering the Medicare age to 50 would cost $180 billion a year. That's $70 billion less than the budget increase the House passed for the Department of War. We could have healthcare over warfare. I'm proud to cosponsor @RepJayapal's bill to lower the age from 65 to 50.

Next year, 300,000+ Virginians are likely to lose their Medicaid because of Trump’s cuts. It’s unconscionable. While Trump gets billions richer, he purposefully strips Americans of their health care. We MUST reverse these cuts.

Christianity’s global spread was marked by colonialism, forced conversions, destruction of Indigenous cultures and religious persecution. International Religious Freedom Day should celebrate the freedom to believe or not believe, not the spread of Christianity.
America, more than any other nation in world history, was shaped by the Christian tradition of spreading the gospel unto all nations. Join us in celebrating International Religious Freedom Day.

This harvest season, Virginia farmers have had to pay $2,000 more to fill their diesel tanks than they did last year. Trump’s war of choice is driving up fuel costs and making it harder for farmers to make ends meet.

The White House Council of Economic Advisers claims illegal immigrants cost taxpayers $166,716 each. Cato's @David_J_Bier says those estimates aren't credible. They have actually reduced federal, state, and local deficits by $1.7 trillion over 30 years. ow.ly/kNi151015Zf

Americans are heading into the midterms gloomier than before any midterm on record. The consumer sentiment number released Friday is at 48, far below 2022 (60) and 15% lower than just before the Iran War.

I was raised by my mother to "respect the office." But this president constantly curses, hurls coarse insults, talks about asses and sex, and degrades public discourse. I think that protestor was wrong to say that to any president. But Trump can only blame himself.

President Trump's planned 250-foot-tall arch would cast shadows on many graves and monuments in nearby Arlington National Cemetery, the @washingtonpost's 3-D analysis found. On some days, Trump's arch would even shade the grave and eternal flame of JFK.

Look, the simple truth is that on November 3rd, the Republican Party needs to be punished. The Republican Party needs to be punished BIG TIME for continuing to embrace a sociopathic madman who is a traitor to, and an enemy of, America. VOTE.

Coward keyboard warrior trillionaire flinches and puckers up when an actual human being asks a perfectly fair and respectful question.
Musk’s interview went great: Reporter: What is your thought on the ban of foreign students, you were one of those kids, right? Musk: “I think we want to stick to talking about spaceships.” Reporter: I was told that any topic is good. Musk: “Well no.”
