"I'm not the kind of person or coach that likes to go to the fans." A fitting epitaph. #ffc
10. AA on clapping the fans: "I'm not the kind of person or coach that likes to go to the fans. I think this is something more about the players. I have my press conference and the interview where I talk about how important are our supporters. "And I think after the Ipswich game, I told them thank you for the support. They were massive in this game. Every game, every away game, every game at home in Craven Cottage. "They have been amazing, especially in this situation. I think they can read my words every week, every time that I have a press conference. I say thank you to our supporters. Thanks for everything that they are doing. I think we need them, they are the most important thing in this club. "Like I said before, I don't feel in that way because for me I'm not an important person. I don't know if maybe I'm wrong, but I think that our players need support because they are the most important thing. They need energy. "So, our players, they are running, they are doing the difficult thing that is playing football. And I think they are the most important thing. I feel that it's not my moment, because it's the moment of my players. "Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you are right, I am wrong. This is the way that I feel. But like I said before, I know how important our fans are for us. How important will be tomorrow in a difficult game. They will be so important again. We need them for 90 minutes." "From here, the only thing I can say is thank you, thank you very much. Of course, sorry if my supporters feel that I know them or I can feel that I could go there to say thanks, I choose my press conference to say it. But if they need it, I will do it. I have no problems, but I feel that it's not my place." #FFC

Fulham going from Premier League stability to hiring Arbeloa and signing a load of Real Madrid academy players was always going to go brilliantly, wasn’t it?

Head was clearly hot at full-time, but after about an hour, I and I'm sure every other Fulham fan feel no better. The rational for certain players coming off will be fatigue after the long break etc etc, but those who came on changed the way the side looked, as Fulham retreated backwards, invited pressure and gave away foul after foul. The body language of some of the players at FT was really shameful. Saw four go down the tunnel. Berge & ESR, but couldn't catch the others. I think every Fulham fan will feel completely let down this evening. AA's comments were fairly unhelpful and didn't offer any solace. #FFC

The thing is… the Khans had a chance after Marco Silva’s departure from Fulham to show they had learned things from the process, that the whole show wasn’t being carried by Marco Silva. That chance had gone and they look pretty clueless, once again.

Something about that first line makes me uneasy. – at Ireland
AA: "Maybe you don't know me, but I have coached the best team in the world. Maybe you don't know, but just to let you know that pressure is part of my life since I was kid. So it's normal in football, it's normal for players, it's normal for coaches, it's normal for everybody that is around a team. Yes, I think the pressure is something that is important for me and I like it." #FFC

An absolute shambles from AA and Fulham. We have chucked away the lead 4 times this season already. Another shocking attempt at seeing out a game. Subs were terrible, totally ceded control.

Here is my stance on Matt LaFleur: He was hired in 2019 on a 4 year contract. In his first 3 seasons his teams won 13 games every year, reaching the NFC Conference Championship twice and earning three 1st round playoff byes. He was rewarded with a 4 year contract extension in 2022. On his second contract his teams won 54% of regular season games. Missed the playoffs one year, was the 7th playoff seed three straight seasons with one total playoff victory. This is a major decline. 2025 specifically showcased several epic collapses which unfortunately became expected as falling apart late became baked into the team identity. I fully thought it was time to move on from Matt LaFleur after the 2025 season. The team performance since the first extension was not good enough. I did not need to answer “who would you hire instead?” to know I didn’t think he was the right guy to lead this team. It’s ok to dump somebody you like if you fell they are not “the one” for you long term without knowing who you will date next on your search for “the one”. The Packers instead pointed at his entire Packers resume, highlighting his early success, in their decision to extend him a second time. To me this the main issue. His early success earned him his first extension - rightfully so. But the measuring stick, in my mind, should be the performance during the extension years. His initial years already “did their job” and should be background consideration instead of once again being the focal argument for extension. Now, when Matt LaFleur was hired only 6 teams per conference made the playoffs each season. On this same standard the Packers would have missed the playoffs in each of his seasons on his second contract. Some don’t like this 6 vs 7 teams comparison. Ok, fine. For me, if you want to look backwards to his early resume success as a measuring stick, then we should apply the same measuring stick to his teams’ recent performance - which would have been 4 straight non-playoff worthy performances every year of the extension period, apples to apples. If you don’t want this comparison, then let’s focus entirely on the second contract performance - which again led to 1 total post season win in 4 years - and set aside the early resume. So to me, using either thought process, it just wasn’t good enough and I didn’t see any reason to expect improvement given the cultural collapses on the field which seem baked deep into the Packers DNA. The Packers, however, decided to reward Matt LaFleur to a second contract extension with an uncertain number of more years, making an uncertain, yet significantly higher, amount more fully guaranteed money. So far, nothing I have seen this 2026 has suggested the Packers made the correct decision to re-invest into Matt LaFleur.
