So I went down the rabbit hole of trying to determine what are the economics for someone, who is currently healthy , to go to a HDHP with a 10k plus deductible.
The question I asked is “I dont trust insurance companies. What happens if I have a million dollar emergency and they won’t pay “. All I can say is WTF
If they don’t pay, there are Independent Review Organizations, who are supposed to be independent, and their decision to pay or not is final. I asked for examples of companies. One was ExamWorks. That rang a bell.
These motherfuckers are the same company that issued a ridiculous denial for a patient I was trying to help. So I knew the Too Big To Care, vertically integrated insurance companies hired them to do DENIALS !!! WTF.
The biggest customers of the companies that are the final decision makers for insurance carrier denials, are the biggest insurance companies.
That is beyond fucked up. It’s the definition of conflict of interest. How do state insurance commissioners allow this ?
The high deductible plans that many people say is the solution to fixing how we do insurance, may be effectively compromised
If you are looking at a HDHP, BE CAREFUL
It might just be rigged against you
Interesting perspective. We still have to build the Robots however.
It pains me to say this, but if we actually “get AGI,” the resulting boom in industrial capacity from robotics and massive society-wide wealth creation will look like a total vindication of neoliberalism.
The discourse about financialization and offshoring being a generational mistake may be replaced by a very different historical interpretation: that the late 20th and early 21st centuries were an enormous capital-accumulation phase, freeing up civilization-scale pools of liquid capital that could ultimately be deployed to accelerate and bring about the most consequential technological phase-change in human history.
In that telling, what looked like deindustrialization and betrayal from inside the period (I grew up in the Rust Belt, I know) becomes the prelude to reindustrialization on an almost unimaginable scale.
None of this is inevitable. The needle has certainly not been threaded. China and x-risk remain enormous contingencies. But if it is, I suspect the future will look back on the last 50 years very differently than we do today.
Another solid reason for local inference
This is Trust & Safety 2.0.
The last time we had media-generated panics like this (with Russiagate and Covid), social media companies created “trust & safety” teams to censor conservative and dissident voices. Those hires worked with left-wing NGOs like the SPLC to police public discourse and do an end-run around the First Amendment. It almost worked, until Elon bought Twitter and exposed the whole game in the Twitter Files.
This time the plan is to embed unfireable EA minders inside every AI company as the new trust-and-safety layer. The censorship and control will be far more comprehensive, but also more subtle. Anytime they don’t get what they want, this unaccountable NGO layer (with the veneer of “trust the experts” pseudoscience) will shriek to the press that the AI company is risking humanity, and they will be celebrated as “whistleblowers.”
These groups haven’t earned our trust, and their agenda is not our safety.

Talking to every politician, or group of politicians that wants to discuss HC
Trying to explain to CEOs of self insured companies , that the big conglomerates they work with are not only screwing their company over, their ignorance about HC benefits is why HC is so expensive in this country. If they stopped doing business with the conglomerates, prices would drop for more than the 160m employees they cover. They would drop for everyone

Canada is a prison. Let this be a warning to all of you living in Blue states
In a sane world, governments exist to improve the lives of people (at a minimum). The worst incidents of my life all stem from the provincial and federal governments repeatedly punishing me financially for being successful in ways that make you feel trapped in a Kafkaesque prison of despair. I realize that many Canadians benefit from the system, and hence will exhibit zero empathy but in a just world, this reality should not be tolerated. It can't be that a government owns 65%+ of all of your worth once all taxes are added up. Send me good vibes. Going through a very difficult time.

Chine post-1978, Vietnam post-1986, Inde post-1991, Pologne post-1989.

We are closer than ever to voting on the SAVE Act in the Senate.
We are closer than ever to forcing Democrats to filibuster 24/7 on the Senate floor, telling the American people why they don’t deserve secure elections, until they drop.
We are closer than ever to victory.

There is a very simple question all Republicans should be asking all Democrats, and it goes like this:
"Why do you oppose the lawful enforcement of America's long-standing, bipartisan immigration laws?"
Every conservative politician, journalist, influencer and commentator should basically have this question tattooed on their foreheads and it should be asked by each at least twenty times a day.
But it's not. I don't know why. I seem to be the only person asking it.

In a stunning and rapid strategy to keep the globalists from realizing what he is assembling, it is being reported that President Trump wants the Gaza Board of Peace constitution and remittance agreement signed in Davos.
However, as the United Nations, European leaders and traditional globalists who compromise the WEF assembly begin to realize what Trump is putting together, they are getting triggered.
In essence, as people of self-appointed political importance are starting to realize, President Trump is assembling an entirely new structure for global partnerships that will likely end up with the functional obsolesce of the United Nations. Trump is selecting world leaders through the invite to a global board of peace; Gaza merely represents the initial venue.
One of the key aspects is the new global assembly will each pay their own way. No free riders this time. You want to sit at the big table; join the big club of sovereignty; assemble with a mutually respectful team of action; then pay the entrance fee to attend.
Surprise! 😀 [Remember the “Happy Trump” pin?]
And….
Wait for it….
Who/Where/What is the first voice to rise against this global alliance for peace?
.....“So far, only Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly pushed back against the proposal. While he’s in favor of the Board of Peace as a concept, his office said the make-up of a separate Gaza committee serving under the board, was “not coordinated with Israel and runs contrary to its policy,” after officials from Qatar and Turkey were included.”.....
Wait, so Israel is not happy…. Not just about Gaza; but about, well, everything this new structure could possibly mean.
Meanwhile, “Argentina’s Javier Milei confirmed he’ll become a founding member and Italy’s Giorgia Meloni has pitched herself as a mediator who is “ready to do our part.””
Can you see it now?
Leftist/Globalist United Nations imperialism is diminished. While a nationalist, respectful sovereign alliance rises.
Farewell five-eyes. Giddy up freedom!

Hot take.
If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act it will cause riots all over the US. We know this because Democratic Governors Mayors and leadership in general are frothing at the mouth to incite them. It will be a lovely distraction for those of us who make memes and in general love seeing us fighting back. I warn you though, all that will do is create a distraction from the real mission.
Instead the administration should focus on auditing the states and administrations we know are actively defrauding the American people and harboring criminals.
We saw what happened when one citizen journalist revealed the fraud wasted abuse. We saw Tim Walz crumble under the pressure. That is the pressure we need.
We don't need bread and circuses. We need high level arrests and the fraud to be exposed.
