Chrystia Freeland is an awful neoliberal, genocide-promoting ghoul. Her resignation should be celebrated and should have come sooner.
So, of course, Canadian media spends the day presenting her as a hero or martyr.

12. Black. Men. Self. Immolated. In. Prison. And there is no media reporting on it.
"Kevin Rashid Johnson reports that Econ and his cellmate Trayvon Brown set themselves on fire hoping to escape the intolerable racism, abuse, and inhumane conditions they were subjected to."
“In a span of just two weeks, a dozen Black men at Red Onion prison in Virginia took the same desperate measures, setting themselves ablaze. These are not acts of protest. These are human beings driven to extreme lengths, hoping for relief from torment.”

That number listed for people killed by cops in Canada is a massive undercount. Canadian cops kill 100+ people each year.

New enclosures in Ontario, Canada. No property, no rights. No house, no humanity.
12 Ontario Mayors are formally requesting that @fordnation invoke the notwithstanding clause to suspend encampment residents' Charter-protected rights so that they can be removed from encampments. The letter cites the Grants Pass Supreme Court decision in the U.S., which allows local governments to criminalize unhoused people in lieu of building housing and shelter, or offering services. It's Draconian and represents an abdication of government responsibility for the welfare of homeless people.
This letter comes a day after @fordnation told @ONBigCityMayors to "have the backbone" to formally ask him to use the notwithstanding clause.
Ford has invoked the clause three times, twice successfully to both force back-to-work legislation and to limit criticism of his government through third-party advertising. With the Mayors of Barrie, Brampton, Brantford, Cambridge, Chatham-Kent, Clarington, Oakville, Oshawa, Pickering, St. Catherines, Sudbury, and Windsor taking responsibility for the ask, Ford could very well table legislation that invokes the notwithstanding clause to evict encampments, without municipalities needing to offer resources like shelter.
Even if you don't care about homeless people, you should be greatly alarmed that entire demographic groups are being targeted to have their Charter rights removed. Who's next?

In a story about a police officer running over a woman with his cruiser, the only information about the woman's condition comes from the police. They have an interest in downplaying her injuries—we need additional sources
"The clip shows a group of four people standing around the woman, who was lying motionless in the parking lot. An EPS SUV pulls in and appears to run her over with both passenger-side tires as the bystanders cry out."
