Japan Is Turning Parking Lots Into Urban Gardens
What if parking lots could do more than accommodate cars?
What if they could help cool entire neighbourhoods?
Across Japan, green rooftop and canopy concepts are bringing nature into dense urban environments.
By covering parking structures with vegetation, these designs offer several environmental benefits:
🍃Natural cooling: Plants provide shade and cool surrounding areas through evapotranspiration.
🌳Urban biodiversity: Green spaces create additional
habitats for insects and other urban wildlife.
🌧️Rainwater management: Vegetated surfaces can absorb
and retain rainfall, reducing runoff.
🌞Energy efficiency: Shaded surfaces can help reduce heat absorption and lower cooling demand in nearby buildings.
🏙️Better urban spaces: Previously underused infrastructure becomes greener and more attractive.
The bigger opportunity is rethinking how cities use the spaces they already have.
Parking areas, rooftops and building surfaces can become part of the urban climate solution.
The cities of tomorrow won't just build around nature. They'll find ways to build nature into everything.

90% of the damned population cannot collectively agree that this is our worst democratic government since 1999.
People are still making excuses for & rationalizing absolute failure.
If na you, you no go give up??

You want to understand what family looks like , read this .
My husband is the least financially successful among his siblings, but what his family did for us recently brought us to tears.
He used to work with one of the banks in Nigeria, but lost his job when the bank's operating licence was revoked after it failed to meet the Central Bank's regulatory requirements.
Things became really difficult for us after that. I had to take up the full financial responsibility of the family, but that wasn't even the issue.
My husband gradually became the person everyone in his family called whenever something needed to be done.
His younger brother is a medical doctor, his elder brother lives abroad with his family, and his sisters are all married and doing well.
When his sisters got married, he was the one who cleaned the family compound. Everyone said he was the only one available.
Even when my sister got married, he helped set up the canopies. He told me it was the only way he could contribute since he couldn't support us financially.
When Papa fell sick, everyone agreed that my husband should take care of him. As usual, he was the only one available.
He did it happily, always praying that God would make a way for him someday.
Earlier this year, Papa passed away. He was buried according to tradition in August 2026.
Then came the day his Will was read.
What happened that day is something I will never forget.

That’s how they do. Always trying to prove their loyalty to the client by throwing professionals under the bus. They believe they’re helping the clients to save cost.
One builder/ mason was telling a client the bedrooms I designed were too big and would waste materials so they should reduce it on site, The client refused. When he told me , I laughed
