About to get going again at the @PassiveHouseCan conference with some great designers and @CityofVancouver staff talking about the really great symbiosis that’s happening in this city re: low carbon building.

Council: motion carries to support duplexes in more areas of Vancouver with 7 in favour and 4 opposed (Ball, Carr, De Genova and Affleck)

Please write council to say that you support duplexes in RS zones, but that they should be allowed with LWH and shouldn't have to have more red-tape or less density than a single family house.

If we can't get this right then I have little hope for anything real coming out of the 'Making Room' process.
If I can do ~0.85 FSR w a single family house and lane house 'outright', then I should be able to the the same with a duplex (either as two buildings or one).

The current proposal says you can do a duplex, but only if you do a gable roof, don't have a lane house, and follow extra design guidelines.
This is a @#$% deal for the first attempt at multifamily housing. Once again we're making multifamily homes jump through extra hoops.
