Azimut is free and open source. If it helps your work and you'd like to support its development, you can buy me a coffee. Nothing required: it helps me keep building more powerful tools: buymeacoffee.com/osintmethat

Find (beta) lands in Azimut v0.3.3: trace a photo's skyline, draw an area, it ranks the places that match. First, its bench: 30 of real geolocations, lines coloured by hand as any analyst would, wrong guesses included. Some are there to break it. github.com/OsintMeThat/azimu…

Four more first places. Mountains 50–100 km away through a long lens: 594 m off. Hills above a road: 97 m. A collage stitched in Azimut: 136 m. A night strip glued by hand, the only night win: 514 m. Same rule each time: hand-drawn lines, best place within 1 km.

What the misses teach. One hint too many: with Looking down, 14 km off. Same lines without it: 1st, 135 m. Look-alike: the true spot explains 79%, a place 5.7 km away 84%. The one case I traced blind: 1.07 km off. Leave out a hint you doubt, and check the whole top 5.

Azimut v0.3.3 is taking a while, and for good reason: it's a big step up from the last version, with several new tools that took a lot of work to look and feel right. Here's what's coming 👇

Nikopol and surrounding areas got updated too. Scary Halloween vibes in Nikopol 😢
Esri has updated its imagery over Enerhodar (~61 km², the town plus the dry bed of the former Kakhovka reservoir north of it). The new image is dated 2026-03-08. The previous one in the archive was from Aug 2024. Thanks to @AquilaTrenta for spotting the change! Mini-thread 👇

Interesting to see new fortifications under construction northeast of Dhubab and in the surrounding heights. Giants Brigades fighters were recently spotted on a hill northeast of Dhubab Airport. Here is a video preview (created using the upcoming version of Azimut v0.3.3).

New Copernicus satellite imagery I processed reveals ~400 impact craters along the south Ma'rib Front, Yemen (Oct 3-15). This high density matches numerous videos released by both sides following recent Yemeni Gov. claims.
It's very interesting to see that there have been plenty of videos from this area over the last few days. Both sides are, of course, boasting about their clashes. However, the Yemeni government has announced that it has made advances in this area.

Fresh news I’m currently looking into. Not sure if it's a Russian operation, but it's very strange. Looks like a France-wide cyberattack targeted Danfoss refrigeration controllers (possibly Europe-wide, TBC).

Create your own analyzer and use Detect. Learn how to build and test an analyzer, then use it to search satellite imagery. More tutos will follow when I have time!

Analyst portrait, the second one. @AquilaTrenta came to geolocation from archive photos: the Zaporizhzhia plant and Enerhodar today, the Italian contingent in Nasiriyah in 2004. We asked a few questions. His answers, in his words. 🧵 vidit.app/profile/AquilaTren…

The next Azimut release is shaping up nicely :D Subscribe to live layers in My Maps, import KML files, compare satellite imagery in blink mode, and run built-in detectors on any area: vessels, burn scars, and more. You can even create your own. Here’s a sneak peek:
