USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die.
🚨 BREAKING: USAID Senior Officials put on Leave after Physically Trying to stop DOGE from accessing Agency Systems Two USAID officials, John Voorhees and his deputy, were put on leave late Saturday night after refusing to allow DOGE members access to USAID systems. The DOGE members threatened to physically call the police after being refused entry. They were trying to access the security and personnel files. Federal Officials are concerned that Trump is trying to fold USAID into the US State Department in an effort to cut Government corruption and bloat. USAID employs approx. 10,000 people, excluding contractors, with 2/3 of them overseas. 60 USAID members were already put on leave last week after trying to circumvent President Trump’s executive order on stopping foreign aid.

Hear from @NDI's @ChrisFomunyoh on the state of democracy in Africa at @AtlanticCouncil/@ACAfricaCenter's event this week ⬇️⬇️⬇️
“A good election is a boost for every government that comes to power, but it doesn’t guarantee the sustainability of good governance,” explains @NDI’s @ChrisFomunyoh at an @ACAfricaCenter event. “That’s a constant reminder that we need to share with political elites,” he adds.

.@ChrisFomunyoh - I think the there is an inherent desire for democracy and freedom and liberties in the African spirit. That's what the whole fight against colonialism was about. That's why the whole fight for independence was about. That's why the fight against apartheid.

Today marked a significant moment in the history of our great nation as we convened for the Inauguration of the @HouseNGR Committee on the Review of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and Citizens’ Engagement. Our constitution, which is the fulcrum of our democracy, stands as a testament to our collective aspirations for an inclusive, equitable, and prosperous society. Hence, it is incumbent upon us to ensure that our laws reflect our people's evolving needs and aspirations. Since the inception of the Fourth Republic, the Constitution has been subjected to five alterations with landmark changes that have strengthened our democratic institutions. With this being the sixth amendment, the 10th House of Representatives through this Committee is poised to deliver a comprehensive review, focusing on areas of national development such as the devolution of powers, including state policing; enhancement of fiscal federalism through local government autonomy; further decongesting the Exclusive Legislative List; and promoting inclusivity, particularly greater gender equity and women representation in appointive and elective positions. As we embark on this journey today, I urge all citizens to actively participate in this reform process, to lend your voices, ideas, as we work towards achieving a constitution that reflects the values and aspirations of all Nigerians.
