Most people still think vechain:native is the same supply-chain coin from the 2021 cycle.
It isn't.
While attention moved elsewhere, VeChain changed its consensus mechanism, redesigned its tokenomics, introduced staking and fee burning, grew its ecosystem to millions of users β and is pushing deeper into RWAs, payments and real-world adoption.
Yet VET is still trading at a fraction of its previous valuation.
That disconnect is what caught my attention.
So I took a deeper look at VeChain β and the VET thesis today looks very different from what most people remember.
VeChain has spent a decade building around real-world utility and enterprise adoption.
But underneath the surface, the network has gone through one of the biggest transformations in its history.
Galactica is LIVE.
It introduced an EIP-1559-style fee market with 100% of the VTHO base fee burned.
Hayabusa is LIVE.
VeChainThor moved from Proof of Authority to Delegated Proof of Stake, opening the network to validators and delegators.
The economics changed too.
VTHO production was reduced roughly 50%, while rewards shifted away from passive VET generation toward VET actively staked to secure the network.
And staking has grown fast.
According to VeChain, StarGate went from roughly 2.5B VET staked to 13B VET.
That's around 15% of circulating VET participating in network security.
Then there's adoption.
According to VeChain:
β 5.3M VeBetter users
β 50+ live VeBetter applications
β 50M+ verified sustainable actions
β 14M+ on-chain addresses
β 530M+ transactions since 2017
β 100% network uptime
VeChain has also launched 100+ enterprise applications historically and has worked with or built relationships involving names such as:
Walmart
Lululemon China
BitGo
Keyrock
Franklin Templeton
And VeChain is no longer simply the old "supply-chain blockchain" narrative.
It's expanding across:
β Sustainability
β RWAs
β Digital Product Passports
β DeFi
β Payments
β AI-agent infrastructure
Then there's Interstellar, the third phase of the VeChain Renaissance.
Interstellar has passed governance approval and is bringing VeChainThor closer to the broader Ethereum ecosystem through deeper EVM compatibility, JSON-RPC support, easier use of Ethereum tooling and stronger interoperability.
So the VET thesis today looks very different:
DPoS: LIVE
Staking: LIVE
100% VTHO base-fee burn: LIVE
Reduced VTHO issuance: LIVE
~13B VET staked: REPORTED
Interstellar: APPROVED / ROLLING OUT
None of this guarantees price appreciation.
VeChain still needs more developers, liquidity, economic activity and, perhaps most importantly, market attention.
But that's where the valuation gets interesting.
With roughly 86B VET circulating:
$0.10 VET β $8.6B market cap
$0.25 β $21.5B
$0.50 β $43B
$1.00 β $86B
Now compare that with $XRP.
A $1 VET would put VeChain at roughly an $86B market cap β around the valuation territory XRP has already demonstrated.
XRP has a massive head start in institutional adoption, liquidity, payments infrastructure and market recognition.
So VET reaching that level would require an enormous expansion in adoption, demand and capital.
But here's the part I find more interesting:
VET doesn't need to reach $1 for the thesis to get interesting.
A $5Bβ$20B VeChain would already represent a completely different valuation from where it sits today.
5.3M users.
50M+ verified actions.
530M+ transactions.
13B VET staked.
New tokenomics.
DPoS live.
Interstellar rolling out.
The technology changed.
The tokenomics changed.
The network changed.
The market's perception hasn't necessarily changed with it.
Now the question is:
Will attention and capital eventually catch up?

Interstellar is now live.
The last few weeks, we broke down what was changing under the hood.
Today, those improvements are live: greater EVM compatibility, more modern tooling for builders, and stronger foundations for scale.
The protocol gets better when builders have less infrastructure to fight.
Over the last two days we've covered the new EVM opcodes and the cryptographic precompiles landing with VIP-255.
Today, part three, the finale: the core protocol improvements sitting underneath both.
Part 3: Interstellar Explained - Core Protocol Improvements
EIP-2935 - historical block hashes from state: Block hashes for the most recent 8,191 blocks served through a contract, using Ethereum's exact calling convention.
Human version: VeChainThor always had the receipts, filed in its own system. This puts them in the drawer Ethereum tools already know how to open.
How it changes VeChain: VeChainThor already holds that history in state through the Extension built-in contract, so lookups resolve against Extension and return VeChainThor block IDs rather than Keccak hashes, making this an interface fix rather than new capability.
Long term impact: proof systems and light-client designs written for Ethereum port across without a VeChainThor-specific rewrite.
EIP-7825 - transaction gas limit cap: A hard ceiling of 16,777,216 gas on any single transaction.
Human version: No single transaction gets to hog the whole block any more. Queue etiquette, enforced by the protocol.
How it changes VeChain: Bounding the worst case holds 10-second block times steady when demand spikes, and it matters more here than on a single-clause chain, because a multi-clause transaction can otherwise stretch across most of a block on its own.
Long term impact: predictable block times are what enterprise integrations get procured on, and a bounded worst case is what allows capacity to rise later without the tail risk rising with it.
EIP-7934 - block size limit: A ceiling of 8 MiB on the encoded block.
Human version: A limit on how fat a block is allowed to get. Keeps running a node in normal-computer territory rather than data-centre territory.
How it changes VeChain: Gas accounting alone does not bound how physically large a block can grow, which leaves room to bloat blocks with cheap data and slow propagation across the network, so a byte-level cap closes that gap.
Long term impact: node cost stays flat as usage climbs, and node cost determines how widely validation can be distributed.
For VeChain, this is the layer that keeps the last two parts honest. Cheaper opcodes and native cryptography don't count for much if block times start slipping or running a node gets too expensive for anyone but a data centre.
These three changes are what keep VeChainThor fast, predictable, and decentralised as more builders and more transactions land on it.
For enterprise especially, this is the boring but essential part: predictable block times and stable node costs are the structural guarantees that get a network past procurement in the first place.
That's the whole of VIP-255, eleven EIPs across three parts.
The upgrade goes live at Block Height 25,902,540 on Wed 16 Sep 2026, 11:15:10 UTC (estimated)! Which of the three parts stood out to you most? Tell us below π

Cointelegraph just started running validators on VeChain.
Their validator arm is CTDG. Two of them, live and the networkβs welcomed them.
A validator is a computer that helps secure the chain and produce blocks. It earns rewards for doing that. Running one yourself takes a serious amount of $VET.
Ordinary holders can delegate their smaller bags to a validator and share those rewards. So VET holders now have another recognisable name to stake with. Not some anonymous operator.
Whatβs interesting is who this is. @Cointelegraph. One of the biggest names in crypto media. Not just writing about it anymore. Theyβre running infrastructure. They already do this on Solana, Polkadot and Injective.
This traces back to VeChainβs Hayabusa upgrade late last year. It opened the network so anyone meeting the requirements can become a validator. 101 slots. Rewards get split, roughly 70% to the people who delegate, 30% to the validator, all through VeChainβs official StarGate platform.

π¨ $VET IS MOVING BEYOND SUPPLY CHAIN.

That changes the narrative:
