This AirBnB saga is making one thing abundantly clear: Evergreen generational meme continues historic run
It's blowing my mind how many grown adults think it's unreasonable to ask them to clean up their own dirty dishes when they rent a house with a full kitchen.

It’s such a failure on our democracy that Trump was not imprisoned for trying to steal the 2020 election, because now he’s emboldened to steal even more

Tapper wants to kill himself
“It was like this biblical battle where the Palestinian men … went in front of me to protect … me and my rescuers from being attacked again,” Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine told Jake Tapper. Levine was kicked, beaten with clubs and robbed by Israeli settlers while covering Friday’s olive harvest in the occupied West Bank, leaving her with multiple broken bones. Speaking after leaving the hospital, she said Israeli soldiers charged Palestinian farmers as settlers advanced alongside them. She said that unlike her, Palestinian victims endure these attacks daily, with absolutely nowhere safe to go.

The cycle in a nutshell: white folks vote Republican, Republicans fuck over white folks, white folks either vote Democratic or stay home, Republicans lose, Democrats clean up the Republican mess, and white folks put Republicans back into power when the fuck up is clean enough.
The saddest part of this entire Trump era is that ultimately the Republican Party will pay no price for any of this. White voters will continue to vote for the Republican Party well into the future.

Ebert is the reason a lot of Gen Xers and Millennials even have the language to discuss movies with equal parts intellect, humor, reverence, and joy. He loved movies and wrote about them beautifully, even if you disagreed with him.
re: Ebert occasionally "missing" on a great movie, I think people forget that the point of criticizing art is not to be "correct," it's to engage with the work sincerely; a critic should be evaluated less on "correctness" and more the consistency/depth of their work

And no, Ebert didn't just cater to American blockbusters, that's such an asinine take. He championed films like MY DINNER WITH ANDRE, HOOP DREAMS, SHALL WE DANCE? and BETTER LUCK TOMORROW

SCOOP: The State Dept has started asking career diplomats up for promotion if they voted for Trump in 16, 20, 24. Federal law prohibits politically based hiring for career staff. State tells @washingtonsun it's screening for "fidelity" and execution of the president's vision👇

Don’t get it twisted, he will vote R down the whole ticket again and would vote for Trump a 4th time if he could
Q: You voted for Trump all 3 times? Michigan voter: I did vote for Trump. Little disillusioned these days. I'll put it this way. I've got a Grand Cherokee and I never had to pay $100 to fill it up until last week. A lot of overpromising and underperforming by Trump.

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…
