A recent story is highlighting the real-world impact of Mobile Crisis Response Teams, and the results speak for themselves.
CA Alliance member Pacific Clinics is featured in the piece, with crisis services leaders making the case for why this work must be protected. San Diego County Sheriff Kelly Martinez put it plainly: "This has been transformational for law enforcement."
Mobile crisis teams keep people in crisis connected to clinical care instead of emergency rooms or jail cells. They reduce pressure on law enforcement. They show up where people are, whether that is a home, a school, or a street corner.
Right now, Governor Newsom's budget proposes shifting mobile crisis response from a required Medi-Cal benefit to an optional one, putting the cost burden on counties. Health leaders across California are urging him to reconsider.

Today, CAADPE member @PacificClinics is at the table.
Eva Terrazas, Chief Public Policy and Advocacy Officer at Pacific Clinics, is representing at the Behavioral Health Task Force Quarterly Meeting, where today's focus is on what California must do to better support children, youth, and families.
Eva is highlighting Pacific Clinics' youth programming -- the kind of community-based care that makes a real difference for young people across the state.
Grateful to have members like Pacific Clinics doing this work and showing up to make sure it's heard at every level.

When the Behavioral Health Task Force asked what community-based organizations bring to children's behavioral health, we figured the best answer wasn't a talking point or a presentation. It was a member. So today in Sacramento, our SVP of Public Policy & Strategy, Adrienne Shilton, presented with Eva Terrazas from @PacificClinics, a CA Alliance member doing the work we talk about in policy conversations.
In one organization: Crisis care that travels to people. Mobile Crisis Response Teams in Santa Clara, Solano, San Benito, and now Nevada County. A Crisis Stabilization Unit in Santa Clara. The Trusted Response Urgent Support Team in Santa Cruz. Placement supportive services and post-crisis stabilization keeping people connected after the emergency ends. Behavioral health where students already are. Thirty MOUs and 60 local educational agencies reaching 600 schools across California, serving 5,500 students. Support for 120 certified wellness coaches and 15 wellness centers. This fiscal year, a 92% client satisfaction rating and 83% of client goals mastered.
That is what it looks like to integrate multiple state investments into coordinated care, partner across systems, and translate state investments into care communities can feel.
This is why CBOs matter for kids. When a young person needs help tonight, no one asks which funding stream is paying for it. They ask who is going to show up. CA Alliance members show up.
Thank you to Pacific Clinics for joining us, and to @Cal_HHS for the invitation.

"We must protect and expand mobile crisis response. It saves lives, it keeps families together, and it is the standard of care our communities deserve." -- Mae Sampani, Executive Director of Pacific Clinics Statewide Crisis Services
Today at the Protect Mobile Crisis press conference, Mae Sampani made clear what is at stake. Pacific Clinics' mobile crisis teams serve 100 to 150 children and families each month across California, and 70 percent of those individuals are diverted from hospitalization through these interventions.
This is what a compassionate, clinical response to crisis looks like. The CA Alliance is proud to stand alongside Pacific Clinics and all of our coalition partners in the fight to protect mobile crisis funding and services statewide.

The CA Alliance is proud to be at NatCon 2026 in Denver this week, joining thousands of behavioral health professionals from across the country for one of the field's best gatherings.
We had the pleasure of attending an outstanding session by our member organization, Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, titled "Leading for Longevity: Keeping Crisis Teams Strong, Skilled and Inspired." With crisis workforce turnover running as high as 60% annually, the research-informed strategies shared in this session could not be more timely.
We also want to give a shoutout to fellow member Pacific Clinics, who are making their presence felt here in Denver as well. Seeing our members represented at a conference is something worth celebrating.
Thank you to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing for putting together such an amazing event. The CA Alliance is proud to stand alongside our members as champions for the behavioral health workforce and the communities they serve.

Today, our Senior Vice President of Public Policy, Adrienne Shilton, is joining members and partners at the California Budget and Policy Center's annual Policy Insights Conference in Sacramento.
This event brings together advocates, policymakers, and community leaders to tackle the key issues shaping Californians' lives, from health care and housing to child care and safety net programs. It is exactly the kind of space where the work our members do connects to the broader policy landscape.
We were especially glad to see Adrienne pictured with Senate President pro Tem Monique Limon following her remarks at this morning's plenary on the choices facing state and budget leaders. Also in attendance: representatives from two of our outstanding members, Pacific Clinics and Community Solutions.
These conversations matter. The CA Alliance will keep showing up.

A huge thank you to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing for putting on this incredible event every year. The work they do in California and across the country is something we are proud to support. More to come from days two and three. #NatCon2026

Starting soon at 10:45 AM: Beyond the Call: Forging Systemic Partnerships for Effective Mobile Crisis Response
This session explores how mobile crisis services can move beyond a standalone response to become the center of a coordinated community system. Speakers will examine how partnerships between 911 dispatch, law enforcement, hospitals, schools, and behavioral health providers can reduce the criminalization of mental illness and create more compassionate, effective responses for people in crisis.
Through real-world examples, panelists will share strategies for building cross-system collaboration, using data to drive advocacy, and creating systems where individuals and families can access help through a “no wrong door” approach.
