Kansas Early Voting Deep Dive...Republicans’ lead in the early vote is the smallest of the three years. Registered Republicans led Democrats by 9.7 points in 2022 and 17.5 points in 2024; in 2026 the lead is 4.2 points.

Some TX Early voter demographic data compared to 2024...Texas early voting looks considerably older in 2026 than in 2024. Voters 65+ now account for 34.7% of early ballots, up from 28.7% in 2024—a 6-point increase. More than HALF of Texas early voters are now 55 or older.

Elections are local. Candidates and campaigns matter. National trends exist, but this fall, beyond what I believe will be record mid-term turnout, we will also see massive ticket splitting that won't fall neatly into any one box, no matter how hard we push.

Interesting post-mortem on WI's Dem primary polling from @gelliottmorris and a strong case for using actual voter-file behavior to understand who is likely to show up. “Weighting data to targets from the L2 voter file largely fixes the observed error. Weighting choices alone were worth roughly 10 points of margin here.” The analysis found that L2 voter-file universes showed an electorate dramatically older than the polling samples and re-weighting to L2 targets cut the August poll’s margin error substantially. ow.ly/MFT550ZzxiV
