There were so many #visitors at #FortVancouver this past Friday and Saturday. Many of our #volunteers who were participating at the #free, #public #WWII #encampment took time to visit Pearson #Air #Museum. These three are checking out the cockpit exhibit in the lobby!

Hard to believe, but it is true! This 1912 Curtis Pusher, which looks an awful like a bicycle with wings, was built by our incredible #volunteers from the original plans. Building a #plane as it would have been over 100 years ago is amazing! #FortVancouver #aviation

Look up! That’s one big gasbag! This is a reproduction of the #Gelatine, a football shaped #gasbag with netting over a wooden framework. The original gasbag was much bigger and crossed the Columbia River in 1905 during the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition. #aviation #blimp

The children’s hands on cockpit exhibit, made by park volunteers, is a magnet in the Pearson Air Museum lobby. Children love getting in the seats of the cockpit! #FortVancouver #aviation #July3rd #family #education #history

This #eagle enjoys spending his time in a Douglas fir about 12 feet up in the air just steps away from the Pearson Air Museum. DYK that #FortVancouver is a major flyover for raptors and other birds on the west coast? This is a great place to #birdwatch! #nature #birds #AirMuseum

We have had so much #rain in #Washington and #Oregon the last few weeks that it seems a good time to share this photo which was taken above Pearson Air Museum. The plane’s contrails in this beautiful sky remind us of sunny days to come. In the meantime, be #safe! #TakeCare!
