The polymerase of #coronavirus #SARSCoV2 can adopt an alternative structure: an antiparallel dimer with only one nsp8 that may bind only one nsp13. We speculate the dimer facilitates template switching and synthesis of subgenomic viral #RNA. Manuscript: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Our paper describing the #coronavirus RNA polymerase structure is online. The nsp8 extensions contact RNA far away from the active site, apparently enabling processive replication of the very long #SARSCoV2 genome. Publication: nature.com/articles/s41586-0… PR: mpibpc.mpg.de/17275755/pr_20…
