First time on the turf, she got to the lead and never looked back. Good girl, Sea. @PhilCleek @LaneJLuzzi
I played American Legion baseball with this smooth infielder at Lakewood in the late seventies. Saw AIRPLANE, ROCKY II, and had other great times. But he always whipped my butt in ping-pong on Oaklawn street in NLR. I haven’t forgotten. Happy retirement my friend!

Breaking: Louisiana Downs will its first post at 11:35 this coming week starting Monday to beat the weather and its intensifying afternoon heat.
A horse that I once got outshook for in a two-way shake at Remington a couple years ago, the Arkansas bred Jacks Spring Break, has scored for his 3rd win at the current Assiniboia Downs meet! Oh Canada, Woo Pig Sooie!
Big day Monday, August 24, @LouisianaDowns as Seamus’s Girl goes in the opener and Luni Sima runs in the 4th! Both will have @LaneJLuzzi in the irons. @JadeFavre #JustinJeansonne #DavidTRogers
Races scheduled for Monday thru Wednesday (17-19) have been cancelled according to the Louisiana Downs racing office due to extreme heat. No word yet on if those dates and/or races will be made up or not.

Happy Birthday to the late Paul Dean, out of Lucas, Arkansas; Paul “Daffy” Dean left a lasting legacy in @MLB primarily due to his spectacular dominance alongside his Hall of Fame brother, Jay “Dizzy” Dean, as a critical anchor of the legendary 1934 @Cardinals “Gashouse Gang”. Though a series of early-career injuries cut his peak short, his rookie and sophomore seasons remain etched in baseball lore—The pinnacle of Paul Dean’s career came in 1934, a season that became a cornerstone of @MLB folklore—Before the 1934 season, Dizzy Dean famously predicted that “Me ‘n Paul” would combine to win 45 games. They defied expectations by winning 49 games combined ( Dizzy went 30-7, and rookie Paul went 19-11)—On September 21, 1934, against the Brooklyn Dodgers, Dizzy pitched a three-hit shutout in the first game. In the nightcap, Paul completely overshadowed his boisterous brother by throwing a no-hitter, securing his 18th victory of the year—During the 1934 World Series against the @tigers the Dean brothers accounted for all four of the Cardinals’ victories. Each brother threw two complete-game wins to capture the championship; 8-14-1912 to 3-17-1981 ( aged 68)
