The budget… is that it? The fact that the contents of this budget are barley enough to cover a Post-it note confirms to me that we are heading for an early general election.

Of the seven polls published this week, five have the Conservatives ahead of Reform. This doesn’t mark the end of Reform, nor may it be the beginning of the end, but it certainly may be the end of the beginning for @reformparty_uk
Reform…..who are they again ? When politicians like @ZiaYusufUK repeatedly shared polls showing Reform ahead, they helped normalise the use of polling as a political tool. So they shouldn’t act outraged when others do exactly the same thing. You reap what you sow.
It begins… as soon as the polls start to show consistent leads over Reform, drastic change will happen. Reform, a party that has only known momentum, will experience the well-known wobble. And the party built on defectors, careerists and opportunists will start to crumble.

The Conservatives' image has improved across every attribute since August.
The party is now viewed about as positively as it was at its 2021 conference.
Its strongest net ratings are:
✅ Knows what it stands for: +4
🎯 Clear sense of purpose: -3
🤝 United: -8

The Labour government cut Wandsworth Council’s budget by 40%.
It speaks volumes that Andy Burnham is happy to slash the funding for Conservative-run councils, but won’t touch the bloated welfare bill.

We are today publishing our licensing policy for @CityWestminster & the right to stand on the pavement or at a bar with a pint is at the heart of it. We're backing the publicans - @sadiqkhan now needs to provide enough police & public transport.

If you vote for lower council tax in your area, the Government will punish your council by cutting their funding.
There's nothing "fair" about this.
Burnham says that he believes in local democracy - but clearly not when people vote to keep more of their own money.
Rather than getting on with responsibly running the council, Westminster Conservatives have found their next stunt: threatening the Government with legal action over the Fairer Funding Review.
As @ormsby_ellie says, residents need a council focused on practical solutions to the financial challenges ahead - not political stunts.
