HAITIAN NATIONAL WHO OVERSTAYED VISA CHARGED WITH MURDER OF 45-YEAR-OLD WALMART EMPLOYEE IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY A 23-year-old Haitian national who allegedly overstayed his visa has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 45-year-old Walmart employee who had just finished her shift in Montgomery County. Destino Jean Louis, 23, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026. Authorities located Louis on the 6600 block of North 18th Street in Philadelphia, where he was initially taken into federal custody for immigration violations. According to authorities, Louis was the primary suspect in the October 21 fatal shooting of a woman who had just left work at Walmart. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Louis with murder Friday evening, while he remained in federal custody. Louis remained in federal custody through the weekend before being transferred to the custody of Cheltenham Township Police on Monday, October 26. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a possible motive and the relationship between Louis and the victim, were not detailed in the information released. Louis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
