Mom I am in the @nytimes!
Had the chance to talk about SCOTUS becoming an authoritarian institution and taking for granted how quickly it could reverse the rights it once codified for us all

Imagine a rogue AI agent liquidating your bank account and investment portfolio.
If you are the only victim, I suppose you could get made whole by the AI company responsible.
If rogue agents liquidate hundreds of billions across millions of accounts, the AI company would go bankrupt and you wouldn’t get made whole.
Imposing criminal liability on AI executives might help mitigate it at the front end, but once the crime is complete and you lose everything criminal responsibility will be necessary but completely insufficient.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

It’s beyond sad. It’s beyond disappointing; at this point, it’s disqualifying for anyone with ambitions for higher office as a Democrat, or a Republican, for that matter, to be fighting to keep billionaires from being taxed while kids don’t have health insurance and the cost of living goes sky-high.
These billionaires are also the ones hellbent on replacing entire workforces with the AI they are developing with our tax dollars (watch the “Musk” doc). We are also living through the largest wealth gap in modern history. At this point, the only way to balance out the economic forces that have bought our politicians and keep rigging the game against working people is through taxes.
Let’s hope Gavin gets some sense and walks this back. It’s crazy that this is what he chooses to spend his political capital, and part of his legacy, doing. He vetoed the bill that would have put a “kill switch” on AI for our protection. He vetoed a bill that would have gotten forever chemicals out of cookware. Time and time again, he goes with corporate interests over the well-being of the people, even after his own bipartisan legislature votes for something.
And here we go again.
Gavin, we aren’t looking for the Democratic version of Trump. That was a good goof. Please try something else. It’s tired.
The people need a champion, man. A real, bona fide champion who isn’t just tough in tweets or press conferences, but tough when it comes to the real imbalances people are struggling with every day: billionaires vs. people and the planet.

A one-time 5% wealth tax would bring Silicon Valley’s billionaires’ wealth back to where it was just 31 days ago, on September 7.
When it was "just" 178% higher than on January 1, 2023.
They’d rather let 3 million people lose their health insurance than let that happen.

As voting begins today, the world needs to know what Silicon Valley billionaires are doing to sabotage the billionaire tax now on the ballot in California.
This is shocking. 🧵
Maxime: You want to know how I ended up here? About two months ago, I recorded a video asking Mayor Mamdani to help open the playground in McKinley Park. It had been closed for almost two years. A few weeks later, the park was finally open. Thank you, Mayor Mamdani.

🇺🇿🇨🇴 This is what football is all about. An Uzbek kid is left in tears after Colombia scores, but the Colombian fans around him immediately step in to comfort him and chant "Uzbekistan!"
Pure class. 👏

If Bernie's 5% annual wealth tax on billionaires had been enacted in 2012, Elon Musk would be worth less than $365 billion instead of the $1.2 trillion that he's worth today.
Elon would still be the wealthiest man alive & every family in America would have universal childcare.

Abdul El-Sayed: “We spent $25B on this war in Iran nobody in the US asked for. We could eliminate all of the medical debt in the whole country for $2.5B. We could abolish the medical debt in this country 10x for what we spent on a war we should have never fought”

it’s very hard for me not to appreciate the way platner communicates on this stuff. absolutely miles ahead of the current party. perhaps this is why they love him in maine.
💢 Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner on U.S. support for Israel:
“Not a single taxpayer dollar should be spent on arming and defending a country that commits a genocide.
I would absolutely support Senator Sanders' bill to restrict military aid, but I'll be entirely honest, looking down the road, this is a nation that right now is exterminating people.
It is going to be very difficult for me to ever be able to look at them again and see someone that we should be working with closely…
What I am witnessing now is the height of horror. And the fact that it is being done by bombs that are built in this country and paid for with our tax dollars is utterly unconscionable. And it needs to end.”

A man who has never seen war and never will, cheering this on from a comfortable perch in Washington.
Every Senator who fails to stop this war should lose their seat, starting with @SenSusanCollins and @SenFettermanPA.
