Maybe this is a dumb question, but if Schumer is brilliant at recruiting candidates and helping Democrats win Senate races, doesn't that mean he should be DSCC chair, not Senate majority leader? nytimes.com/2026/11/07/us/po…

Haley Stevens’s betrayal hit Clyburn so hard he went full Malcolm X
Asked why he devoted so much time to Michigan, Jim Clyburn compared the hostility Abdul El-Sayed faced to the struggles of civil rights icon John Lewis, citing Lewis’ beating on the Edmund Pettus Bridge and El-Sayed becoming the first Muslim elected to the Senate.
“They’re going after a brown Muslim today,” he recalled telling one group. “They’re gonna be coming after a Black Muslim tomorrow.”

interesting how much focus there was on winning young men in 2024, but when abdul el-sayed is the senate candidate who performed best with men aged 18-29 of all races, suddenly crickets
Call me crazy but I don't think the person who cowered in fear behind a folder in Trump's Oval Office, vetoed a bunch of her party's own legislation, and endorsed a literal Republican in the Senate primary is gonna be our party's standard-bearer in 2028

Is Chuck Schumer exciting? No. Does he take risks? Of course not. But do his experience and acumen make him EXACTLY the man democrats need to most effectively wield this unprecedented mandate? Jesus christ, no
Schumer’s “meticulous background engineering” while he had A MAJORITY of the Senate was so terrible dems lost senate seats, not to mention THE PRESIDENCY in 2024.
We’ve seen how he acts when he’s in power. Nothing gets done. Time to move over for someone who can meet the moment.

Politico: Katherine Clark Launches Majority Leader Bid
Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts officially announced her bid for majority leader in a letter to colleagues Thursday.
Clark, currently the No. 2 to Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, is widely considered a shoo-in among her colleagues. She is currently unopposed, and if she wins, she would be the first woman with the title and most progressive member of the top leadership trio that is also expected to include Jeffries as speaker and Rep. Pete Aguilar as whip.

For the uninitiated: the suggestion is to pass a law allowing people to sue federal officers for violating their rights.
Congress should absolutely do this.

One thing about the repeal of Roe is it gives Democrats a rare opportunity to directly impact millions of voters’ lives, basically *immediately* with stuff like this.
Attorney General-elect Nathan Johnson says he won’t sue out-of-state doctors who mail abortion pills to Texas.

If a centrist had flipped the MI-07 seat (even by a slimmer margin), centrists would treat them as a deity with a secret formula for winning elections everywhere.
But because it’s an anti-genocide, pro-M4A candidate, the conversation is about “underperforming”.
