Always liked Van.
I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people. Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent! But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest. You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful. Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway. This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

This ad is vile. One thing that's so despicable about far-left hatred of Israel is how quickly they just glide past the fact that Israel was subject to horrific terrorist violence. One does not have to agree with all Israeli policies (I certainly don't) to know that this is a grotesque caricature.
New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad: Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your life—from wars to the price of eggs to the reason you can’t have free healthcare—is not just low-grade Jew-hate. It’s pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German. Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to “defeat MAGA”? Well, here’s El-Sayed’s answer to them: Don’t worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, I’m going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they can’t have those things.

Fair summary. Yeah, she was a corrupt but within normal parameters.
She was an arrogant and uncharismatic know-it-all, but she was also hard-working, well-informed, and competent and would have made a far far better president than any of the others we’ve seen on November ballots these past 10 years.

Yup. Bad look. Don't do that right before an election and... you look like a pack Bible-thumping Protestants.
NEW: A group of Catholic bishops prayed over President Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday, 12 days before the midterm elections, at a meeting organized by an official at the Heritage Foundation. A senior Vatican official called it “a highly inappropriate meeting and an insult to Pope Leo XIV.” In April, Trump called the pope “terrible for Foreign Policy,” and Vice President JD Vance warned that Leo should “be careful” when he talks about theology. thelettersfromleo.com/p/past…

Maybe the upset of the election? Would be beautiful.
Right-wing independent David Hatley is polling as high as 19%. With TN's roughly 60%-40% ratio of Republicans to Democrats, failure by Blackburn to coalesce support within her own party could create a pathway for Jerri Green. From me @Tennessean: tennessean.com/story/news/po…

I enjoy this platform but this dude's got 80K followers. A total crackpot and people tune in to what he promulgates. Good grief. Save us from the lunatics.
My Irish ancestors were slaves bought and sold by Jewish people. And you expect me to care about antisemitism?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Irish people sent to the Americas were primarily indentured servants under temporary contracts, not chattel slaves. No historical evidence supports claims they were bought and sold by Jewish people; this relies on the debunked Irish slaves myth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_sla… snopes.com/fact-check/iri… apnews.com/article/920e1c…

I hope not. Those who believe that guy was the Messiah will be held, I expect, to a far higher standard. Maybe we should be the ones stressing.
Do jews ever feel stressed that maybe that guy really was the messiah

As I wrote over a year ago, it would only take a handful of GOP Senators to stand up to Trump and grind his agenda to a halt until he ceased his actions against Ukraine and on behalf of Russia. Instead, they tweeted and signed letters that Trump ignored. Do something.
Reminder: Thom Tillis, John Cornyn, and Bill Cassidy are all current sitting Senators. They have the ability to do more than complain and put out statements. If they don’t act now, when they have real power, I don’t want to see them on TV in four months opining.

If only he and the other GOP Senators used their constitutional authority to change Trump's treacherous behavior instead of complaining politely to the media and on Twitter.

One way to deal with the "intrinsic" problem... A violation of human dignity is not a concrete act, but a description of a type of act. Any specific violation of human dignity can be an intrinsically evil act *or* an act that is evil due to intention and circumstances.

An American citizen joins the military. He tries to enroll his wife, who is undocumented and came to America when she was six, in a program that allows close relatives of service members to stay. The wife shows up to join the program with her four kids, and is arrested by ICE. This is why elections matter. We are ruled by cruel, sadistic people.

Love Scaramucci (and not just b/c his cool name). He's right. Being removed is far better than defending, spinning, dancing to the creep in the WH.
Dear @katiezacharia — speaking as the world's leading expert on short White House tenures: turn off the news and go enjoy your family. In time you’ll realize that the Universe did you a major favor.

He's speaks English clearly. He's coherent. Seems decent. As a Catholic, I say he is an improvement from current trajectory. I'm hopeful.

As a result of Trump's energy ceasefire, Russia has promised to export 300k metric tons of diesel this month, 500k next month and up to 1 million in December. Global monthly diesel demand is 115 million tons. We're talking about less than 1% of global diesel demand and that's assuming Russia can and wants to deliver on its promises which is highly doubtful on both ability and intent grounds. On the other hand, 5.4 million tons a month is estimated to have been lost for the last many months due to the drastic reduction of oil and diesel shipments via the Straight of Hormuz. The "energy ceasefire" is not about diesel, it's about redirecting the rage at the cost of the Iran war at someone other than the people who are responsible for it for electoral purposes.

Has been obvious since 2015
Perhaps P.J. O'Rourke put it best. When explaining, in 2016, why a self-declared 'Republican Party Reptile' was voting for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, O'Rourke admitted that the former first lady was 'wrong about absolutely every-thing'. But at least she was 'wrong within normal parameters'. A decade later, conservatives are paying the price for ignoring O'Rourke's advice. Donald Trump has weakened the western alliance and undermined America's constitution; he has demeaned himself, his office, his country and, perhaps most of all, his supporters. With Republicans facing a congressional reckoning next month, it is time for conservatives to dis-avow the President and face up to the damage that he has done. ✍️ The Spectator Article | spectator.com/article/donald…
