📍 Undeclared Direct War Between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Heavy direct fighting has erupted along the Egela-Tsorona front between Ethiopian and Eritrean forces. Clashes began on Friday with Ethiopian drones and artillery shelling Eritrean positions near Qolo-Berdo village and continued whole day Saturday. On Sunday morning, infantry units from both armies engaged in close-range ground combat.
Both sides are claiming victory. Ethiopian sources claim their forces advanced from Igella toward Tsorona, while Eritrean sources are reporting a major victory, comparing it to their historic 1999 victory in Igri Mekel. Today the ground combat was calm.
📍 Tigrayan Forces Claim Major Victory Between Ahferom and Bizet. Tigrayan forces claim to have inflicted heavy losses on Ethiopian government troops during clashes between Ahferom and Bizet. According to Tigrayan sources, Ethiopian forces transported dead and wounded soldiers in four trucks.
📍 Fano Claims Control of Historic Town. Heavy fighting has erupted between Amhara Fano forces and Ethiopian government troops in the historic town of Wuchale and nearby Ambassel in South Wollo. Local sources report that Fano forces have taken control of Wuchale following days of intense clashes. Senior military commanders, including colonels, were reportedly surrounded in Ambassel.
📍 Sudan Takes Ethiopia to UN and African Union. Sudan has filed formal complaints with the UN Security Council and the African Union, accusing Ethiopia of enabling RSF drone attacks that have killed or wounded hundreds of civilians and soldiers. Khartoum alleges that 187 one-way attack drones launched from Ethiopian territory since February have targeted civilian infrastructure and power stations.
📍 Ethiopia Suspends The Reporter Newspaper. Ethiopia’s Media Authority announced on Monday the indefinite suspension of the registration of The Reporter newspaper and its digital platforms. Founded in 1995, the publication was the country’s last active privately owned Amharic-language print newspaper.
Bro really looked at 30% of the country and 1% of the country and said yeah they're swapping those.
One huge demographic that is also being traded out by the Democratic party for Muslims is White women.
This is obvious by the bullying treatment of Haley Stevens and her being exiled by her party.
Curious to see how this effects midterms and 2028. I can see Republicans growing a lot with moderate Democrats shifting right.

Ethiopia received ~€244m in Irish bilateral aid from 2020–2025. It’s just received a delivery of 12 Russian Su-35 fighters & plans to acquire four S-400 air defence system, again from Russia.
Should Irish taxpayers be funding aid to countries buying advanced Russian weaponry?
Ethiopia has taken delivery of 12 Russian-made Su-35 fighter jets and will later receive four S-400 air defence systems from Moscow as part of a drive to bolster its military capabilities, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Wednesday. reuters.com/world/africa/eth…
The voices of the larger state doesn’t matter after they committed genocide and mass atrocities for 30 years.
Here is Boutros Boutros-Ghali - the Egyptian UN Secretary General who oversaw Eritrea’s 1993 independence and Ethiopia’s permanent loss of sea access.
While serving as the world’s top diplomat, these are the decisions many Ethiopians still call biased
😡 Fast-tracked UN verification of a referendum held under full EPLF control
😡Treated the process as pure “decolonization” while ignoring Ethiopia’s strategic survival
😡Overrode the UN’s own 1950 resolution that had settled Eritrea’s status through federation with Ethiopia - reframing it instead as a colonial question
😡Ignored legitimate opposition from Eritrean minorities, including the Afar and Kunama, who opposed independence and whose complaints reached the UN
😡 Offered no binding guarantees for Ethiopia’s port access or trade routes
😡Recognized the new state before borders were properly settled
😡 Moved quickly to UN membership while long-term consequences for Ethiopia were left unaddressed
😡 Gave little institutional weight to Ethiopian warnings about future conflict and economic damage
Result: Africa’s second-most populous nation became the world’s largest landlocked country overnight.
Self-determination is one thing.
Ignoring the survival of the larger state and the voices of minorities who rejected the outcome is another.

𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗦: 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦. 𝗠𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗔𝗟𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗬 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥.
𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗕: 𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗔 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟮. 𝗜𝗡 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗜𝗧 𝗔𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗝𝗨𝗗𝗚𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠.
Assab lies on the coastal side of a line drawn by one colonial treaty: the 1908 convention with Italy, which fixed the border 𝟲𝟬 𝗸𝗺 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁. That formula decided the eastern sector, and with it, Assab.
In 1952 Ethiopia rejected it. The Boundary Commission's own decision records it, paragraph 2.10: "𝗢𝗻 𝟭𝟭 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟮, 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟬, 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟴." The footnote names the instrument: 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼. 𝟲 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟮. That same day the UN federation took effect, placing Eritrea, Assab included, "𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻."
Ethiopia recognised Eritrea's independence in 1993. Then, in 2000, the treaties Ethiopia had declared void became the agreed basis of the border. The Algiers Agreement, Article 4(2), told the Commission to decide "𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟬, 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟴) 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘄." The next sentence ruled out deciding on fairness outside the law: the Commission "𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘅 𝗮𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗼 𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗼." Ethiopia's need for the sea alone could not move the line.
Then Ethiopia's own lawyers closed the circle. In its very first written pleading, the Memorial, Ethiopia asked that the boundary "𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟴" be delimited by its own method. At the final hearing on 21 December 2001, it asked again. That method, the decision records, took the coastline and moved it 𝟲𝟬 𝗸𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱. Ethiopia's submissions, as the decision reproduces them, never asked for Assab.
So the border at Assab was decided by treaties Ethiopia had once declared void, under a mandate Ethiopia signed, applying the treaty Ethiopia itself asked the Commission to apply. Ethiopian legal experts should answer four questions in public:
𝟭. 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼. 𝟲 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟮 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱? If so, by what instrument and when?
𝟮. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱? What grounds did Order No. 6 give, and how were its effects weighed when Algiers was negotiated?
𝟯. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀, and what did Parliament hear about the 1952 Order before it approved Algiers?
𝟰. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮'𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵? What legal advice and government instructions shaped that position, and were any options concerning Assab ever assessed?
The honest limit: Parliament approved Algiers by Proclamation 225/2000, Article 4(15) makes the decision "𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴," and a declaration against a treaty does not by itself erase its boundary. These questions do not reverse the award.
𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗯 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁. 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆.
