I guess I need to remind everyone of my pro golf gripes again:
▶️ I watched the Tour for almost 30 years. Post Tiger/Phil it was boring/stale.
▶️ Courses on Tour are mostly unappealing - too milquetoast. TPC ain’t it in modern golf.
▶️ Broadcasts were degrading: too many commercials, over-corporatized, broadcast talent drain. It wasn’t engaging anymore.
▶️ That over-corporatization kills individualism & personalities.
▶️ All that combined with 40+ events in all the same format on similar courses with very few courses I wanted to watch, with a lot of uninteresting players just nuked my interest & I wanted something new. Different style courses in other parts of the 🌎 interests me. Better broadcasts that show more golf & more of my favorite players interests me. PGL piqued my interest - LIV was able to pull it off. Combination.
Add on to that all the @PGATour skullduggery I’ve uncovered the last 4 years, and the corrupt golf media that protects the establishment and I’m out on it - doesn’t matter what happens with LIV.
If the Tour can thrive & grow as-is, with no changes - more power to them. But IDT it will grow & bring in younger fans & veteran fans turned off to the current product without MAJOR changes. They’re like a 2/10 in what they need to do.
Faking the linear TV ratings, propaganda & bad narratives only goes so far and bringing all the LIV players back won’t fix all my issues either.
Those are the cliffs notes but I talk about this on @GLUgolfclub all the time. I’ve said this so many times it really does bore me.🥱
Charities are fine, but the only charity that has added to my personal entertainment is #TheHumanFund. 😂
(Don’t get me started on the fake charities).
Bookmark this, save it bc I’m not doing it again.
Replying to @ProGolfCritic
what exactly was so terrible about the existing golf “establishment” pre-LIV?
purses were great. the Tour gave billions to local charities. rarely if ever embroiled in controversy.
LIV simply tried to buy its way into pro golf by outspending the competition. it failed because the Saudis don’t understand the American sports consumer. furthermore, that model was never the long play. it was designed as a temporary bridge over the moat while they infiltrated the castle.
could you for once just honest about what it really was..?
For those following the @TaylorMadeGolf sale: The Sylvan Group (based in Singapore🇸🇬) is the new party exploring the purchase of TaylorMade - with backing from Reignwood Group. You’ll know @ReignwoodGroup as the Chinese🇨🇳 based firm that owns Wentworth in 🏴. Rory was somewhat randomly in Singapore last week for a promo visit playing @SentosaGolfClub & promoting simulator golf. Now that trip makes a little more sense. 🧐
My 1st take of the @Internetinvite is that 64 players is too many.
48 was probably too many last year. 32 feels right.
Literal nightmare team. Amirite? 😂
The dream team returns!
Andrew Catalon, Colt Knost and Dan Rapaport will once again serve as the broadcast team for the @FarmersIns_ Skins Game. Tune in this Black Friday at 9am ET, only on @primevideo.
The @DPWorldTour regular season wrapped up last week, and here are the 10 players currently in position for @PGATour cards (OWGR in parens):
🇪🇸 Eugenio Chacarra (39)
🇺🇸 Patrick Reed (32)
🇿🇦 Casey Jarvis (57)
🇳🇿 Daniel Hillier (74)
🇿🇦 Jayden Schaper (98)
🇩🇰 Jacob Skov Olesen (87)
🏴 Andy Sullivan (126)
🇦🇹 Bernd Wiesberger (144)
🇫🇮 Oliver Lindell (103)
🏴 Joe Dean (127)
The list isn't final until after the R2D playoffs.
If the Strategic Alliance continues, I think 5 or 6 PGAT cards probably makes the most sense instead of 10. Basically any player in the Top 50 OWGR should surely be in the Championship Series and Top 51 to 100 players in the Challenger Series (locked 12/31).
BUT since there's a direct correlation (for the most part) between your world ranking and place in the R2D standings, so I don't think you necessarily need the R2D standings to sort this. That change would create an end of year rush - not only for the Top 50 which you already have for Masters invites, but also Top 100 - and really add some value to the tournaments at the end of the year. Food for thought.
And yes, ALL Top 50 & 100 players should be eligible to pick and choose the Championship/Challenger Series events they play in, regardless of their tour/league. You want "meritocracy" - that gives you more of it.
After Yasir stepped down in April, Jon Zinman & Gene Davis were brought in to lead the Board through the LIV transactions. Now that the transactions are in progress & operational phase is here, it makes sense to bring in a new chair to lead the board. More to come.
LIV Golf is making official that former TaylorMade executive Mark King is being appointed chairman of its advisory board, effective immediately. The league says it remains focused on player recruitment and says it is on track to complete its transaction with BC Partners, which has agreed to invest in the new league
This is great stuff from @Eugeniochacarra. Having a reliable shot off the tee has changed my entire game. It also puts so much pressure on your opponents in matchplay.
Going back to courses I played before with a driver that I know where it’s going is a whole new 🌎😂
Welp, looks like the demise of @livgolf_league has been greatly exaggerated again. 🤷🏽♂️
Enough golfers commit to LIV 2.0 to keep hopes of new league alive ft.trib.al/S9oCFmD
How does Te Arai look like a hybrid of Bandon, Spyglass & Chambers Bay?
Holy moly. 😍
@AAC_Golf tees it up here in New Zealand this week. 🇳🇿

John Catlin wins the 2026 Link Hong Kong Open and will be heading to Augusta National and St Andrews in 2027! 👏

Here’s my question for @PepperellEddie, the rest of the DPWT working class whining about @WestwoodLee and all the LIV haters upset that the DPWT is opening its doors to former LIV players. Why aren’t you directing your ire at Ponte Vedra where it belongs? Or would that mean you would finally have to acknowledge that maybe you weren’t rooting for a benevolent member run charity organization who cares about the game of golf but rather for an authoritarian corporation hell bent on total control of the ecosystem willing to destroy any Tour including the DPWT who stood in their way?
Congrats to John Catlin for winning @TheHKOpen! Thats another national open on his resume. He’s now won the Hong Kong🇭🇰, Irish🇮🇪, Austrian🇦🇹, English🏴, Thailand🇹🇭 & Saudi🇸🇦 Opens.
But this win gets him into @TheOpen (5th start) & 1st trip to @TheMasters. ✅ @JohnCatlin59
This is where the @DPWorldTour is misguided - they cannot “kill” LIV. It may weaken LIV short term & make things more difficult, but also opens the door to more litigation.
The 1 good point @PepperellEddie made is that most of the players he references don’t move the needle & the ones that do (Rahm) may not even play much - doesn’t have to.
Euro Tour is better off (1) making the @PGATour put pen to paper NOW to extend the Alliance with agreeable terms. Or (2) working with LIV & getting Bryson, DJ, AK, Cam, Joaco etc for 8-12 events (maybe even Phil for a handful). Which option moves the needle for the Euro Tour more? Getting Bryson for X events is a bigger boost to the Euro Tour than literally anything else - as you will see in South Africa in 2 months.
Facts are the PGAT might leave the Euro Tour holding the bag after 2027 with other Middle East 💰drying up. Then what?
I think Eddie, and some other DP World Tour players, have missed the point on this. It’s not about giving players a soft landing, being fair, or even trying to sell more tickets. Guy Kinnings and the DP World Tour are welcoming LIV Players if they don’t sign up to the new league with one goal in mind, to kill a competitor.
Eddie is reiterating one very important item from the last 4 years of disruption: Most pro golfers are emotional wrecks😂. I’ve heard the words: “betrayal, resentment & contempt” more than a season of Real Housewives. This “member-run” concept is THE thing holding pro golf back. It’s old, outdated & needs to be binned post-haste.
Is Eddie a pro golfer or the lead in “Midnight In Paris?” “I’m in the wrong era.” 🙄
If these are the people continually influencing the decisions in the pro golf world, Lord help us all! 🤦🏽♂️ GTFOY.
🚨🗣️🇪🇺 #TAKING ISSUE — DPWT player Eddie Pepperell reacts to some LIV Golfers getting a fast track back to the European circuit following their exits:
“The idea that Charles Howell III is on this list, with all due respect to Charles - he’s a terrific guy - is utterly bizarre…. That represents a miscalculation to me, along frankly with additional names like Thomas Pieters, Branden Grace and even Louis Oosthuizen, as much as I admire his swing…
“None of these players are going to put enough bums on seats or in front of TVs to materially improve the balance sheet in 2027, period.”
Do you agree with Eddie?

Lee Westwood has offered his opinion on whether LIV Golf players should be allowed to return to the DP World Tour as a mass exodus from the league gathers pace. ❌️
Do you agree with Westwood?
Caleb Surratt shares the 54 hole lead at @TheHKOpen with Anirban Lahiri, Thomas Pieters & John Catlin. He’s looking for his 1st individual 🏆 as a pro. His former teammate Tom McKibbin won here last year & he’s spent a lot of time practicing with Tom as part of @LegionXIIIgc. Caleb carries himself like a veteran & he’s going to need to call on all his experience to bring home the win tomorrow! 🤞🏽
