Iron Mountain Railroad Light Mikado, No.104.
This unit is modified from an Athearn Genesis USRA Light Mikado. Ive outfitted it with brass detail parts, painted it, and replaced the tender with an oil tender from an ATSF Class 4000.
The Genesis Mikado is a superb runner, it can crawl like no other. The tender is a brass unit that weighs about as much as the locomotive itself lol.
I think all of the IMRR locomotives will eventually be weathered, I have a few scrap parts that I want to practice with before I try it on a locomotive though.
The current steam roster if the IMRR consists thus far of the following;
A USRA 4-8-2 Heavy Mountain
A USRA 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific
And a modified USRA 2-8-2 Mikado
I plan on adding some non-USRA designs to the roster, likely in the form of earlier smaller motive power (Consolidations, Moguls, Decapods, etc). I have a custom 0-8-0 that im working on that I think would be a good fit as well, its a non-standard design too.
I get that I've cultivated a very niche following because of my interest in working on guns, but damn, almost no one gives a shit about any of my other hobbies.
Iron Mountain Railroad 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific.
(WIP)
Still a bit of work to be done. I need to source some more detail parts, touch up some paint, wire up a front and rear light, decals, etc.
"The tyrannical government you oppose is here to overthrow the tyrannical government you oppose"
Fucking lol
Replying to @2AFDN @davekopel
Cook County argues resisting tyranny is not a valid purpose anymore, because the government will handle resisting tyranny for us.
Laffs walking into my office armed with whatever random gun I left in the kitchen and aiming it at me is a regular occurrence.
I also aim guns at him, and at myself on a regular basis.
This is perfectly normal behavior amongst friends.
The mystery box haul;
A box of random Tyco/Life-Like rolling stock
A Mystery passenger car decorated to commemorate the Railroad Model Craftsman Magazine, I suspect this is a Walthers kit. It has metal wheels and trucks but Nissan missing the couplers.
An MDC Roundhouse 60ft Bulkhead flat car
An MDC Roundhouse Gorre and Daphetid observation car. Has metal wheels and couplers.
And the best of all; A Hallmark Models (not quite sure the importer actually) Japanese Brass Illinois Central Caboose. No idea why this was in a box of mostly Tyco/Lifelike stuff but that really made the $25 super worth it lol
