Yes, it's conceivable that AI could plant dangerous circuits. On the other hand, one could also say that the trigger for AI behaving that way is that humans end up giving it such goals. I think this is a difficult problem that spans both humans and AI.

Maybe AI could even handle booting Android. (LOL)

Today's AI is impressive. Its software coding ability has improved dramatically, but I was surprised that it can also think through hardware design from the microarchitecture level, keeping the structure and timing in mind.

I haven't made a demo video, but I have written a white paper. You can find board picture and boot screen.

I think we've reached an era where AI can handle the hands-on work of digital chip design, such as microarchitecture, RTL code, verification, operating EDA tools etc. However, I think humans still need to manage the work, by directing design procedure and evaluating the results.

Perhaps we've entered an era where digital circuit design can be completed entirely with AI.

Yes, I aimed for performance comparable to a single-issue, in-order Rocket chip. The 2.8 was with -O2, and compiling with -O3 pushes it above 3.0. I think a few more iteration s with the AI could improve performance further.

Yes! As AI continues to improve and we get better at using it, we might be able to finish a CPU design before a typical Linux machine has even finished booting. Even more, we might be able to simply tell an AI, "Run as Linux!", and the AI itself could function as a Linux machine.

Is it about the boot sequence? The details are documented here:

Thanks for the comment. I agree that the real shift may be lowering the barrier to entry, rather than replacing expertise.

詳しくは github.com/munetomo-maruyama…
