Fantastic thread. Governments of all ideological persuasions suffered losses amid post-COVID inflation. This is why election outcomes aren't ideological mandates. Biden didn't win because voters wanted liberalism. Trump didn't win because voters wants conservatism.
Decided to go through this systematically. Incumbent government performance in wealthy democracies since March 2022, when Ukraine invasion really spiked things upwards: 🧵

Jill Stein has been radio silent. I guess she’s done fighting for Palestine now. Shock surprise.

BREAKING NEWS: Black voters are experiencing the same economy everyone else in America is experiencing. And still, Black voters did their Black jobs at the voting booth.

OK Buckle up, here's a thread & a half, really all written just to get it off my own chest but you're welcome along for the ride.... 🧵
Slightly reluctant to ask, but seen lots of Tweets about how it was young white men wot won it for Trump but can't find any actual voting numbers. Has anyone got them? I've seen polls from about a week before but nothing from the actual day. Anyone?

Staggering class realignment/shift in working class Harris lost DESPITE major shift of affluent voters her way 2020: Trump wins voters over $100K, 54-52 2024: *Harris* wins voters over $100K, 54-45 2020: Biden wins voters $50K-$100K, 57-42 2024: *Trump* w/ voters $50K-$100K, 49-47 2020: Biden wins voters under $50K, 55-45 2024: Trump massive improvement w/ voters under $50K, 49-48

if you are someone who was able to overlook the genocide and cast a vote for kamala harris, then you already understand how a conservative was able to overlook Trump's extremism to vote for him.

in retrospect, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords really might've been a better basis for a system of government.

1) get to know your community. 2) start volunteering anywhere 3) find an antifascist group (recs anyone?) 4) join an advocacy group outside of electoral politics 5) brace yourself
What do we do now? Seriously, what can we do now?

Something to ponder as you head out to vote today, for free. In the Library's Rosa Parks Papers collection, there's a receipt for the poll tax she had to pay to vote in Alabama in 1956. Poll taxes, a Jim Crow-era voter suppression tool, were not abolished federally until 1964.
