It also bears repeating that Tom Cruise is lights-out amazing in DIGGER & utterly magnificent.
I thought women had all the best roles in 2026 & all the best performances. Cruise is a notable, significant exception.

Tom Cruise is so perfectly cast Iโm not sure he even realizes what a perfect casting he is, and if he does I honestly respect the hell out of him for it.
He made one of the best manga adaptations. I love the amount of practical effects in edge of tomorrow. He even had a team research how to build an exo suit

its a lot of fun being hyperbolic about Digger bc it hits the exact precise notes of so much of arthouse cinema but it cost a bajillion dollars and stars Tom Cruise. its cognitive dissonance inducing and thats just plain fun

everything aside, tomโs putting on a generational performance here. right after they take the bow, the look of simultaneous pride and horror on curtisโ face is so fucking good. itโs tom, heโs gonna keep doing it knowing the price of what heโs done, since this is all he does.

It's amazing to hear that so many stunt workers who have worked with Tom since he was a kid came to the Digger set for the European Council scene to support the film. That says so much about the relationships he's built over the years.
