🚨 Former LTTE member arrested at Colombo airport after deportation from India
A 50-year-old man from Sandilipay, Jaffna, was arrested on arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport after being deported from India, where he had served a 10-year sentence. He is being held for interrogation by counter-terrorism police.
Police obtained a 72-hour detention order of the kind issued under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). Tamils returning to the island have continued to face arrest and harassment.

#SriLanka has invited #Qatariinvestors to explore opportunities in tourism, industry and services, saying it has recovered from its 2022 economic crisis and is ready to welcome foreign capital.
“This is the time to come to Sri Lanka,” Wasantha Samarasinghe, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security & Cooperative Development told #DohaNews on Monday at the ninth World Investment Forum in #Doha. He urged Qatari and international investors to look at the country’s potential.
Samarasinghe acknowledged Sri Lanka’s past financial challenges and said improving political and economic stability is central to its efforts to attract investment. He called on Qatari investment funds, government institutions and businesses to take part.
He also pointed to Qatar’s Sri Lankan community of nearly 150,000 people.
