Must be Astra’s day. Car accident in front of the house. Tesla brake checked the car behind and it ended in a crash. Got Astra to pull the clip from CCTV storage, cut to key 40s and save it. All on the phone while running on Mac.
I messaged the clip over to the guy just now.
I can’t go back to booking flights myself. Astra just makes it so painless and got me a decent price using some code on my preferred airline.
Wow indeed.
Wow. For years, an official in Arkansas allegedly tampered with bar exam scores, pulling points from some test takers and giving them to others.
This caused numerous failing exams to pass, and resulted in "at least one instance" where an otherwise passing exam fell below the requisite threshold.

Not in Bay. Spending 10K+ API worth every month. It’s incredible. Once you cross the threshold it changes your perspective.
Great time to be an experienced operator with a technical background.
I wouldn’t be surprised if 95%+ of devs spending $10K+ per month on AI, globally, were based in the Bay Area
Nearly everyone I talk here (devs, founders, CTOs etc) are AI-pilled in ways I rarely see outside. AI-pilled as in obsessed building more with agents, running agents when they sleep, designing loops to auto kick-off, running them during their commute. And talking with each other how and what they do and then taking those ideas and trying it

No surprises here - lower us better and the longer it is lower is best. And combo therapies is where is at!
🫀 Can coronary atherosclerosis actually regress?
Our new randomized FLOWPROMOTE trial analysis, published TODAY in JAMA Cardiology, shows remarkable coronary plaque regression with intensive LDL-C lowering!
Atherosclerosis is not necessarily a one-way process.

Base to peak is a great proxy to judge how majestic a mountain looks. Different experience to stats based on sea level measurement.

Sharp insight.
A lot to say on this topic but crucially if you are in the second group and want BAU then those times are almost over.
I'm starting to sense a divide in the tech industry:
- People thriving on autonomy who are reinventing how they work and what tools they use with AI: LOTS of work, but they're enjoying it and getting very efficient
- People used to being mentored / trained / or simply told what to do and how. Frustrated with the lack of guidance from management on what to do with AI; also frustrated by seeing some of their peers thriving; increasingly bitter about AI and the state of the industry, as a whole
Neither group seems to be aware that there's another group, or have empathy for the other group
Great post.
🚨 South Asians have a heart attack risk double that of Europeans, and standard risk calculators cannot see it coming.
Same cholesterol number. Twice the danger.
"But the data says otherwise." And no, it is not just genetics.
I am a cardiologist. I have treated hundreds of Desi patients with heart disease in their 40s who were told their labs looked fine.
🩺 Here is what the science actually says.
The UK Biobank followed patients for 11 years. South Asians had a hazard ratio of 2.03 for heart attack, revascularization, or stroke compared to Europeans. The US and UK risk calculators predicted nearly identical risk for both groups. That gap is why the AHA and ACC added South Asian ancestry as a risk-enhancing factor in 2018.
🔬 Same risk factors. Earlier and heavier.
INTERHEART studied 52 countries and found nine modifiable risk factors explain about 90% of heart attacks worldwide. Those factors hit South Asians just as hard per unit. They just show up more often and earlier. Median age of first heart attack is 53 in South Asians versus 58.8 everywhere else.
🫀 The cholesterol myth.
A normal LDL number does not mean a safe Desi patient. The INTERHEART lipid substudy found South Asians had the highest ApoB and lowest ApoA-1 of any group studied, for the same LDL reading. ApoB to ApoA-1 ratio predicted heart attacks better than LDL ever could. CETP enzyme activity runs 30% higher in South Asians, even after adjusting for BMI and waist size.
🩺 The thin-fat phenotype.
Looking slim does not mean metabolically healthy. South Asians carry more liver and muscle fat and less lean mass at the same or lower BMI. One UK study found 30% more intramuscular triglyceride than BMI-matched Europeans. This starts in the womb. Indian birth cohorts show low birth weight plus rapid childhood catch-up growth predicts adult diabetes and heart disease decades later.
💓 Blood pressure and diabetes move faster.
UK Biobank data show South Asians hit systolic 130 by age 40. East Asians do not get there until 49. Nearly 20% of South Asians are hypertensive by 40. The LOLIPOP study found type 2 diabetes three times more common in South Asians, 17.7% versus 5.9%.
⚠️ More events, less visible plaque.
SHARE found South Asians had the highest cardiovascular disease rate at 11%, versus 5% in Europeans, despite Europeans showing slightly more carotid thickening. South Asians had higher fibrinogen, homocysteine, and Lp(a). A real clotting tendency, not just plaque volume, drives events.
🔸 Fair counterpoint. When you adjust for 18 risk factors, the excess risk shrinks from 2x to about 1.45x. Genetics found so far look similar to Europeans. Most of this gap is modifiable. A real unexplained residual risk still remains.
🔸 Desi women are under-treated, not lower risk. The DILWALE registry proves it.
❤️ Bottom line:
A normal LDL does not mean a safe Desi patient. It is not just genetics.
Get ApoB and Lp(a) tested, not just a standard lipid panel.
Control blood pressure starting in your 30s, not your 50s.
Lift weights. Move more. Eat Mediterranean-style, not low-fat.
Use statins, ezetimibe, or PCSK9 inhibitors when the numbers say so. These are proven tools, not supplements promising to clean your arteries.
A Kaiser Permanente program targeting these exact factors cut revascularization by two-thirds and mortality by 60%.
A patient who gets ApoB tested and treats it aggressively in their 30s can avoid the heart attack that would have hit at 53.
That is the difference between prevention and a bypass.
If you are Desi and your doctor only checked your LDL, what else are they missing?

Interesting post - Samsung almost being a spyware doesn’t come as a surprise. They were bundling similar Israeli tech in some of their phones as well.
If you want data collection on a vast scale then TVs are such a great vector.
Interesting - well learnt something new about Unicode

You know what rather being offended I’m OK being held up with our Chinese and Korean friends.
