.@TEDTalks and me on sustainable cooling - @CleanCoolCollab @SEforALLorg @IEA @Ashden_org @AmericanForests @ArshtRock @Toby_Peters_ @UNEP @IGSD_DC ted.com/talks/rachel_kyte_ho…
Excellent reporting by @AnushkaAsthana at @Channel4News - tying together threads of climate denialism, non science based decision making in 🇺🇸 and pressure to do same in 🇬🇧. Balanced, factual explanation of potential consequences and importance. @BBCr4today could take note.
The 🇬🇧 delegation at @Cop30noBrasil #COP30 led by @Real_EdMiliband is channeling @BethMeadNews focus on results as we push for high ambition here in #Belem Thank you Beth for focusing on climate change. theguardian.com/football/202…

In special address on ‘A Moment of Opportunity: Supercharging the Clean Energy Age', @antonioguterres underscores that throughout history, energy has shaped the destiny of humankind – from mastering fire, to harnessing steam, to splitting the atom.
.@antonioguterres reframes the urgent need for climate action as the “greatest economic opportunity” of our lifetime. Clean energy, clean technology. Better resilience. Invest in nature. Future for young people. New book from @lordstern1 soon making the point #COP30 #climate
“There are no price spikes on sunlight and no embargoes on wind”. @antonioguterres lays out the reality of renewable energy for energy security. He calls for us to go all out on the #EnergyTransition. Proud 🇬🇧 is leading by example #energysecurity @UN #COP30
Today’s essential thread if you missed it yesterday #NetZero
It was GenderDay yesterday at #COP29Baku and who better to reflect with on why we still have such a muted process on gender than @TheElders @ruthdavis27
Perfect timing. Thanks 🇲🇽 for your leadership and for standing with us 🇧🇷 and 🇦🇪 + others in announcing or committing to 1.5 aligned, whole economy all gases #NDCs. @Claudiashein @aliciabarcena @energygovuk
Mexico announced a net zero goal for 2050, marking a fresh bid by the country to more aggressively confront climate change under a new president that has prioritized the issue trib.al/IHI7HBs
So proud of these young women, leaders within their communities both educating on climate impacts and resilience, but also responding to gender based violence that comes with the stresses of climate impacts. Thanks @wagggsworld GLACC program for all they do.
Our delegates at #COP29 met Rachel Kyte, UK Special Representative on Climate & shared lived experiences with #climatechange in their home countries & emphasised the need to invest in local climate projects for creating a #sustainablefuture for all. #BringInTheGirls #WAGGGSImpact
Inspired by the vision and leadership of @ClimateEnvoyKe - we are hard at work at #COP29 pushing for the agreements we need to keep supporting all countries through their energy transitions and building resilient societies.
Had a bilateral meeting with H.E @rkyte365 UK's Special Representative for Climate reinforcing our longstanding strategic partnership. We discussed Africa's priorities and critical issues of decarbonization and climate action at COP29.
During our discussions, we explored mechanisms to leverage climate finance to accelerate renewable energy deployment and advance green industrialization across Africa. We look forward to engaging the new UK government in transformative climate action.

I am delighted to be able to work closely with the brilliant @ruthdavis27 putting nature and climate at the heart of a foreign policy that reconnects 🇬🇧 with the world. Kudos to @DavidLammy and @SteveReedMP for an inspired choice. theguardian.com/environment/… #climate #nature #COP16
Good to see @TFletcher taking on a tough mandate - his communications skill as well as sharp mind and experience are much needed as @UNReliefChief.
.@DavidLammy using climate and nature to reconnect the UK to the world, and reframe its relationship with the global south.

.@_allysonchiu highlights policy failure in #climatecrisis - lack of energy efficient, affordable, non-polluting A/C. Solutions exist for those with resources but not those without -globally. Great work by @CleanCoolCollab and many more. Urgency felt now wapo.st/4cbzeww
.@antonioguterres ssued an urgent #CalltoAction on #ExtremeHeat - this is where its focused, what leaders can build-on, why they could make a difference quickly, and where they need to fill gaps in data and systems that will save lives and livelihoods. theconversation.com/how-a-gl…

Extreme heat as a result of the climate crisis is not for tomorrow, but happening in our cities today. I join with the UNSG’s call to action to mitigate the scale and be resilient to the reality we all face.
This week the world has experienced the three hottest days on record.
Earth is becoming hotter and more dangerous for everyone, everywhere.
We must rise to the challenge of rising temperatures.
