"AI is not here to replace the creatives. It’s another tool in the creative toolbox." At The Assembly: Take One, our speakers shared how AI can help creators explore ideas, experiment faster and push their work in new directions. For creators, that means new and easier ways to tell stories, create, collaborate and even turn your skills into opportunities. Been experimenting with AI? The African AI Film Festival is giving creators a space to put that work out there. Hope for Warriors: Hip replacement camp. Today @MulagoReferral , we highlighted progress from the ongoing medical camp providing 25 free hip replacement surgeries to sickle cell patients living with avascular necrosis (AVN). In partnership with @RaremarkFdn, the camp that runs 5th – 16th October to-date has seen 17 successful surgeries already completed, giving renewed hope and mobility to Warriors. @MulagoReferral Sickle Cell Clinic sees over 100 patients daily & is overwhelmed by numbers all over the country. While addressing the media the ED Dr. Rosemary Byanyima praised the surgeons for these life-changing procedures. She commended partners for the enormous support towards health care. The State Minister for Primary Health care, Hon. Dr. Charles Ayume who officiated over the event pledged more support for human resources, medication & patient care. Stakeholders also visited recovering patients on the Arthroplasty Ward & heard powerful stories from the Warriors themselves. #HopeForWarriors #SickleCellAwareness #MulagoHospital #RareMarkFoundation #HipsForAfrica

@DrAyumeCharles, Guest of Honour at the #Hope4WarriorsMedicalCamp2026 Press Conference, called for stronger collective action to address the burden of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in Uganda. “I hold SCD very close to my heart, and we need to find better solutions together,” he said, urging that discussions on SCD be taken directly to the @KagutaMuseveni to encourage the same level of commitment demonstrated in the fight against HIV. He called on corporate companies such as @mtnug, Rotaract and youth leaders to support SCD awareness initiatives, noting that many people remain unaware of the condition or their own SCD status. He thanked Raremark Foundation and other stakeholders, noting that the camp had challenged the @GovUganda and @MinofHealthUG “On behalf of the @MinofHealthUG, I pledge to increase the budget for SCD to ensure that you have more beds, medications and human resources,” he stated. #Hope4WarriorsMedicalCamp2026 #RaremarkFoundationAVNCamp2026 #SickleCellDisease

An advocate, a graphic designer and social media manager. Big dream achiever
Too often, conversations around Sickle Cell Disease focus only on the condition and forget the person behind it. But Warriors are more than their diagnosis. They are people building careers, raising families, creating, leading, studying, dreaming, showing up, and making impact every day. Today, we’re acknowledging identity beyond a diagnosis. Tell us, outside of being a Warrior, who are you? If you'd like to know more, watch our discussion on Beyond the Condition: Sickle Cell and Identity here: youtu.be/aL9oJb8DtDA #WarriorCommunity #RaremarkFoundation

Yesterday, 26th June, 2026, student health leaders from over 40 universities and health institutions across Uganda gathered for the launch of the International University Health Ministers Consortium (IUHMC) and Sickle Cell Disease Campaign under the theme: "Creating a Window of Hope for Sickle Cell Disease Among Young Adults Through Student Leadership" The initiative brings together student leaders from across institutions to strengthen awareness, testing, and youth-led health advocacy on sickle cell disease. @olaro_charles , the Director General at @MinofHealthUG highlighted the continued burden of sickle cell disease in Uganda, with thousands of children born with the condition annually and many carriers unaware of their status. Officials emphasized the importance of early testing, informed decisions, and youth engagement in shaping healthier future generations. The IUHMC was officially launched by @DrAyumeCharles with commitments from both government and student leaders to scale awareness efforts across institutions and communities. A key message echoed throughout the day was simple but powerful: “Test before you taste.” The day concluded with a free sickle cell testing exercise conducted in partnership with @Microhaem allowing students to know their genotype and take informed health steps. Raremark Foundation welcomes this initiative and looks forward to collaboration in strengthening sickle cell awareness and youth-led health impact across Uganda.

Too many Sickle Cell Warriors continue to live with severe hip pain because treatment feels out of reach. For many Warriors, developing Avascular Necrosis (AVN) can make movement, work, and everyday life increasingly difficult. But it does not have to stay that way. Through the Hope for Warriors Fund, eligible Warriors can access support toward hip replacement surgery and take a step toward less pain, improved mobility, and a better quality of life. If you or someone you know may need this support, share this opportunity with them. 📞 Call us: +256 791 246663 #HopeForWarriors #RaremarkFoundation

How much do you really know about Sickle Cell Disease(SCD)? This #WorldSickleCellDay, we put awareness to the test and discovered that while some people know the facts, many are still unsure about #SCD, genotype testing, and why it matters. This year’s theme: Closing the Survival Gap: Equity in Sickle Cell Disease, reminds us that awareness is more than information - it is the first step toward earlier diagnosis, better health outcomes, and improved access to care. Watch, learn, and join the conversation. Most importantly, if you don’t know your genotype yet, make today the day you find out. #WorldSickleCellDay2026 #ClosingTheSurvivalGap

What does it take to give someone their life back? For years, Jude lived with Avascular Necrosis, a condition that slowly took away his mobility, independence, and ability to provide for his family and serve his community. Today, Jude tells a different story about how recovery is possible when collaborative effort and support reaches the right people. But Jude is only one story. Many other Warriors are still waiting for that same chance. Your support helps make stories like his possible. 🎥Watch his story: youtu.be/vkCZ4A7kw4I To support or partner with the Hope for Warriors Fund, contact us: 📞 +256 791 246663 📩 [email protected]

Today, we look back at the history of the Martyrs and remember that sacrifice shapes the future. We see that same unyielding spirit of sacrifice reflected in the daily lives of our community, in caregivers who stay at bedsides past exhaustion, nurses who run on hours of little rest, and advocates who continue to ensure that awareness around #SCD never goes silent. Your sacrifices are building systems that endure. #MartyrsDay
