Damn, this hits home.
Iβve been a boss for a min, but Iβve also had terrible bosses. In fact, verbal abuse from my boss was one of the reasons I left IHS end of 2016 and eventually started DRAG full-time.
I promised myself Iβd never lead people that way, but in 2023, I failed at that.
A client was angry over a delayed project, and instead of managing the pressure, I took it out on my assistant. I felt terrible afterwards, but I never apologised. Thatβs something I still own.
Today, that same assistant has a much better-paying job that takes him around the world. Iβm proud to have played a part in his growth, and weβre still very close friends.
That experience taught me something: Being under pressure doesnβt give you the right to become someone elseβs problem.
Leadership isnβt about how much authority you can exercise. Itβs about how much growth you can inspire without stripping people of their dignity.
You can correct people without humiliating them. You can demand excellence without being cruel.
Humility is an underrated leadership skill.

That need to understand what's going on in my life drove me to message Bob Proctor's platform via email, i can't remember what i said, but dem recommend one of their programs gimme, tear me $200 billing, my eyes clear one time, i sent another email explaining my finances π€£
In 2018, I was learning shoemaking, and one day I got to the shop late.
My boss told me to kneel outside, then handed one of my seniors a belt and told him to flog me if I moved.
Lmfao π
I looked at my senior, stood up without saying a word, went inside, packed my things and left.
My boss was shouting, βDid I tell you to stand up?β but I didnβt even look back. That was my last day there.
When I got home and told my mum, she said they were lucky I left because if anyone had flogged me, they wouldβve regretted it. And trust me, I know my mum π
A few months later, I started learning printing on mugs, clothes and picture frames.
During a fuel scarcity, my new boss sent me and a senior apprentice to buy fuel. He specifically told us not to buy if it cost more than β¦700 per litre.
We searched everywhere until we finally found somewhere selling at β¦700.65. Just 65 kobo extra.
We bought 20 litres and returned to the shop.
This man asked why we bought it despite the extra 65 kobo. We tried explaining, but he dragged my senior inside and beat the hell out of him.
And while beating him, he kept saying I was next.
Omo, I ran home out of fear ππ
After a few more years of trying different things, I eventually found my way into tech, and thankfully, Iβm doing well for myself today.
Looking back, some of the things apprentices went through in the name of learning a skill were actually insane.

Exactly. Making money is a skill, keeping it is discipline, and multiplying it is wisdom. Saving alone won't make you rich, investing will.

The ratio of graduates to roles is very wide.
That's why most of these top companies set hard assessments to weed off a lot of applicants.
That's why; You're either freelancing - unstable/
You have a business - Capital + marketing/
A solution people would continually pay for.

was once in support of this narrative until i started my own brand.
why most sellers donβt put a direct quote on their product are due to the fact that:
1. nigeriaβs economy is so unstable!
one could go to the market to get a fabric today and tomorrow the price has doubled
2. if itβs something wearable, pricing would vary with sizes
3. custom orders.
as a designer a client might want theirs to have a long sleeve, baggier pants, etc
so many more sha but these are my main reasons for now..

A tweet from @Raynerdtech inspired me to upgrade my AI resume analyzer. π
Now, it does more than extract skills and recommend jobs.
It also:
* Generates a cover letter
* Uncovers alternative career paths with higher earning potential
* Gives you a step by step transition guide
I built my first AI application π₯³
It's an application that scans your resume, extracts the skills in it and recommends jobs based on what it knows from the resume.
A simple application i built to learn the basics of Langchain, LLM APIs and AI engineering.
Still a long way to go but a step in the right direction

IMO if your business isnβt a service based business which is price dependent on service scope you have no business with hiding your prices.
Attach that price to your product and save our time and energy please.

This is exactly why we're building Invoiss. Manage invoices and track payments right from WhatsApp, without digging through old chats.
Thanks @Raynerdtech
This client reached out around June to build a headless Shopify store.
Heβs a very busy man, so he goes on and off. At one point, he disappeared for about 3 months, so a project that was supposed to take 2β4 weeks has stretched to almost 6 months.
The funny part is, the last time he asked me how much he still owed, I genuinely had no clue π
He had already paid twice, I couldnβt remember the original quote, and I had to dig through old WhatsApp chats and my bank statement just to piece everything together.
Thatβs exactly why Invoiss by @abbeydeveloper makes sense to me.
Since the whole conversation with the client is already happening on WhatsApp, I can manage the invoicing there too with their WhatsApp AI.
Create the invoice, track payment milestones, record what has been paid, see whatβs still outstanding and come back months later without searching through old chats or bank transactions.
Thatβs the kind of automation I actually find useful.
It removes a problem Iβve already experienced myself.

Yes he's a developer and he understands how it works, but it's clear he was explicitly talking about how regions affects availability of certain apps to Nigerians.
It still draws back to what the owners think of Nigeria.

Switching platforms shouldnβt mean starting over.
Just shipped platform imports on @symplaxhq.
Move from Railway, DigitalOcean or Vercel to a server you own. Four steps. Nothing on your source platform is touched. Failed imports roll back cleanly.
On Render, one web service + a Postgres database + Redis costs $54/month minimum. Each service billed separately.
A Spark server on Symplax gives you 2 vCPU, 4GB RAM and 40GB SSD. Run all three on it.
Coming next: Render, Heroku and Fly .io.
Your apps. Your server. Your data.
