Q4 and post-midterm seasonality remain overwhelmingly bullish. Historically, the fourth quarter has been the strongest quarter of the year for the S&P 500 in terms of consistency of positive returns. Over roughly the past 80 years, Q4 has produced a positive return about 80% of the time, compared with approximately 60%–64% for the other three quarters. The midterm election cycle adds another powerful seasonal tailwind. Stocks have historically performed particularly well as the uncertainty surrounding midterm elections is removed. Depending on the precise starting period used, recent historical studies put the S&P 500's positive rate during Q4 of midterm years at roughly 83%–85%. Given the backdrop of strong earnings growth and, at least for now, no clear evidence of recession, history argues that the bulls should continue to receive the benefit of the doubt. However, seasonality is a tendency—not a guarantee. Fed tightening, deteriorating breadth, rising interest rates and elevated oil prices represent meaningful counterweights. At a minimum, those conditions increase the probability of volatility and make the current environment considerably less straightforward than the historical averages suggest. Individual stocks have already been correcting beneath the surface of the major indexes. More than 35% of S&P 500 stocks are currently down 20% or more from their 52-week highs, even as the index itself remains relatively close to record territory. In other words, a significant correction has already occurred—it has simply been masked by the strength of a relatively small number of heavily weighted stocks. Interestingly, the 87 Crash is one of the historical analogs worth keeping in mind following a Fed tightening. The comparison should not be interpreted as a prediction of another crash, but the monetary-policy parallel is real: the Fed raised the discount rate from 5.5% to 6.0% on September 4, 1987, while market interest rates were already rising sharply. The seasonal winds are clearly at the market's back. The question is whether tightening financial conditions, weak participation and rising oil become strong enough headwinds to overpower them. The 10-year Treasury yield spiked 125 basis points in just seven months. We looked at prior cases when the 10-year Treasury yield jumped more than 125 basis points in seven months and found 13 prior cases. Only seven of the 13 cases (54%) had positive returns three months later. minervini.com

Trailing stops are awesome. They lock in gains by moving the exit level as a trade moves into profit. You let winners run while protecting what has already been earned. Breakeven stops, volatility stops, adaptive indicators like Wilder's Parabolic SAR, and trendline breaks. Each balances protecting profit against giving the trade room to breathe. Too tight and normal noise knocks you out early; too loose and you give back too much. The right choice depends on the instrument's volatility. And your time frame.

Good reminder that you are probably more of a trader than an investor, which means you need to train your mind to take profits after massive runs. The vast majority of individual stocks are cyclical, and far fewer are truly worthy of being held for decades than people want to believe. There is nothing wrong with being a long-term investor, but don’t convince yourself something is a forever hold simply because you’ve become emotionally attached to the position. Especially when you’ve already achieved the generational returns you were originally hoping for. Learning when to sell is just as important as knowing when to buy.
Lmao. See you guys after midterms

Took me two and the half years onwards to finally be profitable consistently in the long run. It's not easy but it also isn't complicated, which most tend to think it is. Simplicity is key, less you have, the more you make. Issue with most retail traders is not because they're awful or bad. NOBODY starts off amazing, I was once that new trader making beginner mistakes left and right. You aren't losing because you're wrong. You're losing because you have no process and you let your emotions lead your trades. Let's talk about them below (1/4)⬇️;

Every time we see an inverted yield curve paired with a flattening Fed funds rate, the U.S. economy is heading into a recession. When the Fed starts cutting rates and the yield curve flips positive, we're on the brink of a recession and a major market crash. This market currently has an 85% correlation to the summer of 2007. This time is no different.

I hate that I keep having to post (and pin) this, but anything you think you see (or hear) via AI-generated fake videos from “me” on this platform, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and/or Bluesky claiming I have a stock (or crypto) picking club for a fee are all IMPOSTERS … I am ONLY active on this platform (make sure you’re following the actual me, not the scammers) and LinkedIn … I’m not active on ANY OTHER platform

$SKHY $MU 4.7x today. If we ever go under 3x, Micron could buy back most of its own shares with the ~$500B Morgan Stanley projects it earns by 2028. Does that make sense? Would the market ever allow it?

$ASTS: Got back from long weekend. Looks like Piper downgraded AST on risk that SpaceX could pursue anti-competitive behavior and reduce launch availability and might undercut MNO pricing and introduce its own devices, resulting in lower pricing for AST. Looks like a kitchen sink of what ifs. 1) SpaceX has been a great launch partner for AST for years. The US also has antitrust laws enforced by the DOJ and FTC to prevent anticompetitive behavior 🤷‍♂️ 2) Starlink undercutting MNO pricing for mobile service makes little sense - especially considering how much CapEx will be required to compete in buying more spectrum (midband since there's no material lowband available) and building out towers. As a sanity check - Starlink Mobile's V1 texting service is $10 / month introductory and then $15 / month thereafter. That's really robust ARPU for a texting service. Starlink fixed wireless has been materially raising prices over the last several years.

The main goal of this $QQQ model was to get subscribers bullish at the lows and cautious at the highs. It’s accomplished that objective extremely well. I don’t expect the implied drawdown to fully play out. That would require a disastrous earnings season. A 3-5% pullback would be enough to reset the broader market in the short term. From here, the trade is level to level. Above the $748 breakout zone, buyers are in control targeting new all time highs. Below it, sellers have an opportunity to push the market lower.
