While he shot two Democrat legislators, they had both just voted with Republicans to deny healthcare benefits to illegal aliens in the state - something Boelter was deeply upset about. The fact is Boelter was a Democrat and he took out his anger on two Democrats (and their families) who he felt had betrayed his party.
ALT Vance Luther Boelter, appointed to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board by Tim Walz, shot and killed Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and shot Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette Hoffman. Hortman and Hoffman had voted with Republicans to stop paying for the healthcare of illegal aliens in the state. Boelter’s car was filled with anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ fliers and other Democrat propaganda. Boelter lived part time with his partner/friend David Carlson.
