20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras has been identified as the co-pilot of the Learjet 60 that crashed in Florida, killing all nine people aboard.
Nathalia had dreamed of becoming a pilot since she was a child. She began taking flying lessons in 2020 and earned her private pilot's license at just 17, while still attending West Boca Raton High School. She achieved it before getting her driver's license.
“I definitely do brag because people say, ‘Oh, you can't drive,’ and I'm like, ‘Yeah, but I can fly,’” she said in a 2023 interview.
By the time of the crash, Nathalia had accumulated around 1,300 hours of flight time and was working as a commercial pilot. Her dream was to eventually become an airline pilot.
On Sunday, November 1, she was serving as co-pilot aboard a Learjet 60 travelling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when the aircraft encountered trouble near Palm Beach County.
The crew reported icing and turbulence at approximately 35,000 feet and requested a higher altitude in search of smoother conditions. Shortly afterward, the aircraft entered a rapid descent.
Air traffic control recordings captured the crew declaring an emergency as the situation deteriorated. The aircraft reportedly descended at more than 30,000 feet per minute before crashing into a residential area and erupting into a fireball.
All nine people aboard were killed.
Nathalia's mother, Camila Corteleti, said her daughter had wanted to become a pilot since she was 12. She described how much Nathalia loved flying and seeing the world from above.
“She loved the freedom,” her mother said. “It was completely different seeing the world from the top.”
Just 10 minutes before the crash, Nathalia had reportedly texted her boyfriend about the conditions in the air, writing that she was experiencing turbulence and ice.
The NTSB is investigating the crash, and the cause has not yet been determined.
A young woman who spent years working toward her dream of flying is now among the nine lives lost in a tragedy that investigators are still trying to understand.

🚨 “WE’RE GOING TO CRASH INTO THE GROUND” — THE FINAL MOMENTS OF A FLORIDA PLANE DISASTER CAUGHT ON CAMERA
What began as a routine private flight to the Bahamas turned into one of the most terrifying aviation disasters in Florida this year.
On Sunday, November 1, a Learjet 60 carrying nine people departed Austin, Texas, bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Hours of travel never came. Before reaching its destination, the aircraft plunged from the sky and exploded beside a residential neighborhood in Palm Beach County, Florida.
But what makes this tragedy especially chilling is what was heard in the cockpit moments before impact.
✈️ THE FIRST WARNING SIGNS
The aircraft was cruising at approximately 35,000 feet when the pilots began reporting problems to air traffic control.
They reported ice accumulating on the aircraft, moderate turbulence and precipitation. The turbulence was reportedly jolting the plane up and down by as much as 700 feet.
At an outside temperature of approximately -47°C, the crew told controllers they were managing the icing but wanted smoother conditions. They requested permission to climb from 35,000 to 37,000 feet in search of a better ride.
The situation appeared manageable — until it suddenly wasn't.
⚠️ THEN, EVERYTHING CHANGED
Shortly after the request to climb, the aircraft began losing altitude at an alarming rate.
The cockpit radio captured a rapid escalation in the emergency:
• The crew reported a descent of 10,000 feet per minute and issued a mayday call.
• Moments later, the pilot reported an overspeed condition as the descent rate reached 20,000 feet per minute.
• Flight-tracking data subsequently indicated a descent rate exceeding 30,000 feet per minute.
To put that into perspective, the aircraft was losing altitude at an extraordinary rate — far beyond what would be expected during a normal descent.
Then came the words no one wants to hear from a cockpit.
“We're going to crash into the ground.”
In the final seconds, the crew's last recorded transmission included the desperate words, “We're out of time.”
Air traffic controllers attempted to communicate with the aircraft, but the calls went unanswered.
💥 A FIREBALL ON A FLORIDA ROAD
At approximately 12:50 p.m. local time, the Learjet slammed into the ground near Military Trail in the Greenacres area of Palm Beach County.
Dashcam footage captured the aircraft plunging toward the ground before a massive explosion sent flames and thick black smoke into the air.
The impact tore into the roadway, leaving a large crater and scattering debris across the surrounding area. Residents described hearing a tremendous boom, feeling their homes shake and seeing smoke rise over the neighborhood.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the scene as catastrophic, comparing the descending aircraft to a missile.
All nine people aboard the aircraft were killed.
Incredibly, authorities reported no immediate deaths or injuries among people on the ground. The crash occurred dangerously close to homes and passing traffic, making the potential for even greater loss of life frightening to consider.
🏠 HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS DISPLACED
The destruction also affected the surrounding community. Approximately 600 residents near a mobile-home park were evacuated or needed temporary shelter while emergency crews secured the area.
Military Trail was closed as authorities responded to the crash and began examining the wreckage.
For people living nearby, an ordinary Sunday afternoon had suddenly become a scene of fire, debris and uncertainty.
🔎 WHAT CAUSED THE PLANE TO FALL?
That is the question investigators must now answer.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Investigators will examine the aircraft's flight data, maintenance records, weather conditions, cockpit communications and the crew's response to the emergency.
Icing and turbulence were reported before the aircraft began its rapid descent, but officials have not established that either caused the crash. The precise sequence of events that led to the loss of control remains under investigation.
The identities of all nine people aboard had not yet been publicly established in the initial reports.
🕊️ Nine lives were lost in a disaster that unfolded in moments. Behind the terrifying footage and the unanswered technical questions are nine people whose families are now facing an unimaginable loss.
The biggest unanswered question: What happened between the pilots reporting manageable icing and the moment they realized they were running out of time?

🚨 JUST IN: Nick Shirley just dropped this line in the Oval Office flanked by President Trump, and it's PURE GOLD
"I want people to think about what is happening right now...me as a 24-year-old, I went out and exposed the fraud. I just was concerned about the well-being of our tax dollars. And right now, I'm standing next to the President of the United States." 🔥
"There's never been an incentive for anyone to ever expose fraud [until now]...when you expose fraud, you help save America. People understand that these fraudsters take from the poor needy who actually need the services that we all work hard to pay for, and we take that, and they then buy Mercedes!" @nickshirleyy
WELL-DESERVED FOR NICK.
A year ago, legacy media mocked him as a right-wing propagandist
Today he walked into the Oval Office with the first check for exposing fraud that the media IGNORED!!
Camera, microphone and passion for saving America. Let's freaking go.

Maybe this is the type of thing they should be teaching to kids in schools? Just basic knowledge of things like kitchen safety might actually save a person;s life. 😐
