Most of people and organisations I follow with heart felt interest... the others are to see what kind of dodgy stuff they're are up to.

I had a high school history teacher who spent the entire year teaching us to develop "casual" accounts of various historical events: Civil War, WWII, etc. I was confused why we should be nonchalant about such important events, but kept my puzzlement to myself. Eventually I realized she was misreading the word "causal".
Still one of the funniest philosophy anecdotes of all time

It's crazy at college, teachers being targeted by students for pronoun crime. I got reported not for using the wrong pronoun but for not using a pronoun. I had to explain that I avoided pronouns to avoid slipping up and being reported by the student, but I still got reported despite not making any errors. That student has wasted so much time in investigations on staff and the stress teachers have gone through.

Protect those offering ‘evidence based care’ 🤔does he understand what evidence is 🤯 when it comes to gender ideology. Removing healthy body parts isn’t care & it’s not evidence based. That’s why those with body integrity disorder don’t get offered limb amputation.

This apology from disability charity Scope, for cancelling my choir’s London Marathon performance because of my gender-critical views, is required to stay on its website for seven days. Today is Day 6. Women don’t always get the apologies they deserve. So I’d be grateful if you could help make sure this one is seen by sharing it over the next 24 hours (link below). 🙏 Thanks again to @SpeechUnion for supporting my legal case and helping secure this apology.

Been quite the day. Grateful to Parliament for letting us speak and to Helen and Dermot for being such effective advocates. This bill is dangerous and it will criminalise innocent parents. It cannot be amended into civility. It must be defeated.

Wonderful news: Murera has given birth to a baby girl this morning! Her daughter entered the world bathed in the light of a near-full moon, perfect in every way. We’ve named her Mwezi, which means moon in Swahili. Murera chose to give birth in her stockade, the place that has been her nighttime sanctuary all these years. Her delivery couldn’t have been more seamless – in fact, by the time the Keepers heard the rumbles and rushed to her side, it was all over! Mother and baby are doing very well, while Mwana is already proving to be an excellent and attentive big sister. More to come, but we're filled with joy and wanted to share Mwezi’s first moments with you. (Word is already out amongst the elephants – this morning, every wild-living Umani orphan showed up to meet the newest member of their family!) Congratulations to our extraordinary Murera: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…

Esther corners Francesca Fiorentini over women’s sports and bathroom safety — then comedian James Barr launches a personal attack that sends the debate into chaos! But Esther refuses to back down, challenging him for lecturing women about their own safety. Participant: If I hit you over the head with a bat and said I wasn’t trying to kill you, just remove a fly, would my intention excuse the assault? Does my intention matter? Participant: That’s the issue. People are validating what I consider nonsense at the expense of women trying to compete fairly or use a bathroom. Another participant: You think that’s what trans people are doing? Participant: Don’t impose your views on the rest of us and then call us regressive. Narrator: Esther isn’t finished. She challenges Francesca Fiorentini over women who don’t want to share bathrooms with biological men. Piers Morgan: Francesca, you respond, and then I’ll come to James. Francesca Fiorentini: I care about human life, people’s right to privacy, and people being able to survive and live in this world. Esther: What about the privacy of women who don’t want to share their spaces with biological men? Do they not matter? Francesca Fiorentini: What about the number of trans youth who die by suicide every year— Esther: No, answer the question. What about women who don’t want to share a bathroom with a biological man? Francesca Fiorentini: You can go into every bathroom and pick a fight with anyone you think is in the wrong bathroom. That’s your prerogative. Esther: If a man goes into a bathroom with my teenage daughter, what should I do? Francesca Fiorentini: Guys, let’s not bully, okay? I believe Melania Trump said, “Be Best,” and we know what bullying leads to: Stephen Miller. Piers Morgan: We’re conflating two issues. You can support trans people’s rights to fairness and equality while recognizing the serious debate about fairness in women’s sports. There’s a reason we separate the sexes in the Olympics and world championships. Otherwise, women would struggle to win against competitors with certain physical advantages. That doesn’t mean women aren’t great athletes. Narrator: Then comedian James Barr turns his attention to Esther, and the argument gets personal. James Barr: Esther, you’re the only person making anyone angry right now. You’re causing me a mental health issue. If there’s a mental illness here, it’s you. I’d like to take a pill to remove you from my life. Narrator: Barr then argues that the race results are normal for women, but Esther refuses to let the discussion move away from women’s safety. James Barr: Most female winners in this sport run around 22 to 24 seconds, which is exactly the time the gold medalist recorded here. That’s normal for a woman in a race. Esther: How dare you, as a man, tell women how they should feel about safety in a bathroom with biological men? You’ve never experienced being a woman in a women’s toilet, so don’t lecture me about it. James Barr: One in three women in America experience violent abuse in their lifetime. Why are we focusing on one trans woman in a changing room? Esther: I’m talking about women being affected by what I believe is scientific nonsense. Why can you talk about biological men, but I’m not allowed to talk about women? Participant: We’re conflating different issues. Let’s get back to the actual issue we came here to debate

Barrister @Jebadoo2 explains how a parent saying to their child they should love their body could meet every element of the Government’s proposed ‘conversion practices’ offence. As Dennis says, all it takes is one difficult, distressing argument for a parent to be wide open to the risk of prosecution. How can Women and Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson claim the Bill “will not impinge on” parents’ ability to have difficult conversations with their children?

I want you all to know this. There are 650 MPs in Parliament. Yet the one MP chosen by @UKLabour to Chair the Bill Committee for the controversial, dangerous and dismally bad draft legislation, the Conversion Practices Bill, is Alex Barros-Curtis. Until July 2024, when Alex was given a very safe Labour seat in Cardiff, he was the Head of the Labour Party's Governance and Legal Unit in London. This was a department set up to investigate complaints against members of the Labour Party. Complaints of antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, and of course latterly, mostly women holding legally-protected 'Gender Critical' (sex realist) beliefs. Alex oversaw the investigation of hundreds of members who liked or tweeted gender critical or feminist views. I was one of them. He investigated me, as a sitting Labour MP, for 13 months. 13 months to 'investigate' one like of one tweet. I had a great lawyer, one of the names we're all now familiar with, and I had to crowdfund to pay for his (excellent) work. They first tried in 2020. But the screenshots crudely attached to that passive aggressive, threatening-sounding email from LP admin staff were so risible that I replied that it was too ridiculous for me to waste my precious time on. They left it. Years of Starmer bumbling and stuttering through interviews about whether he had spoken to me, whether he supported me, etc followed. My feminist sins continued apace. And then I 'liked' a tweet by my GC comedian friend @Glinner. He had mocked Eddie'Suzy' for comparing his choice to wear traditional women's clothing, fake plastic breasts and nails, to those being persecuted by the Nazis during WWII. I found his sarcasm, as a award-winning comedy writer in the face of such offensive narcissism amusing and so 'liked' it. I found it absurd and obscene that Izzard, an extremely privileged and wealthy man, who openly changed his 'gender' at will, should write himself into history falseley as someone who would have been oppressed due to a circumstance beyond his control. We all know the groups who were tortured, starved and killed... There is obviously more to my story, I will tell it all, it's just one chapter of the years of spiteful abusive and bullying practices meted out to me by the Labour Party managers. Not those who'd achieved office on merit, or even unexpectedly, but those in the club, often having failed to be elected themselves. So Barros-Curtis who we were repeatedly told led 'the many *independent* inquiries into women members and MPs like me, now often stands as a trans-rights activist on the Labour backbenches. He has also been gifted the role of Chair of this Committee and is a huge supporter of this Bill. And I am not a part of the Bill Committee, although plenty of TRA MPs are. Does that sound like the democratic scrutiny of legislation to you?

NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions. More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves. In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety. The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action. In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties. The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.” I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

The electorate aren’t goldfish. Our memories are long enough to recall June 2024, when you declared that trans-identified men with penises should be able to use women’s public bathrooms. It took a Supreme Court ruling to force you to uphold women’s rights, and now you pose as our bold champion? Please.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls. We'll back practical action to confine misogyny to the history books - in public services, workplaces, and online. theguardian.com/society/2026…
