Thats the consequences of : 1) normies getting into fan activities and thinking everything has to cater to their needs 2) ppl who migrated from Wattpad, thinking the A of AO3 stands for attention seeker 3) ppl writing for kudos and not bc they genuinely like writing

🦋Thay🦋@ThayIsTiredOct 30

I feel like some AO3 writers would be happier if they just...wrote original stories and posted them on Patreon or self-published on Amazon. This gatekeeping, engagenebt obsessed mindset has no place in fandom spaces.

idk, maybe it's because i lived through the livejournal/ffnet/wattpad/tumblr/etc censorship purges, but people downloading their favorites fics for personal archival and sharing them when the originals are inaccessible has always been a huge part of keeping fandom culture alive

kallie ✴︎˚｡⋆@diazettesOct 29

am I too woke of a fic writer to be a little conflicted about fics being downloaded to personal drives without the author’s knowledge and shared/read without the author gaining any site engagment or is this something I should brush off and get over /gen

I find it quite ironic how many AO3 authors I'm seeing who are mad about people downloading their work without their permission (from a site that explicitly allows it) while the entire point of said work is using someone else's characters, ideas, and IP without permission.

Deuxième jour sans AO3. Je sais à présent ce que ressentait Bella quand elle attendait Edward pendant des mois.

I hope that we can recognize that @PM_Kamla is spewing, from public office, from the highest public office...a level of hateful and divisive, racially-driven rhetoric that we have not seen in most of our lifetimes... This is not a moment we blink and act like things are normal

Things are not normal. That woman HATES, viciously, as does much of her cabinet, almost half of her citizens. She's saying it, over, and over, and over, in twenty different ways. We cannot make this the "new normal"

Talking to a friend recently about how that as much as this is painful, it is necessary. Trinis have thought for too long that nationbuilding is easy, risk free and quite frankly a story book. Oil shielded us from the reality of the world. We still think shit sweet
