On 14 October 1940, a bomb struck above Balham Tube station, where hundreds sought shelter during the Blitz. More than 60 people died.
We remember them, the survivors and those who came to their aid.

100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh! Canadian Army vet Harry Colebourn brought orphaned bear Winnie to Britain in 1914.
She inspired Christopher Robin’s teddy bear’s name. Author A. A. Milne was a WWI British Army veteran.
