Students thrive when they have access to a well-rounded education and wraparound support services at school. I introduced a bipartisan resolution in support of a whole child approach to education. Students are more likely to thrive when they have support inside and out of the classroom.

It will soon be 2027 and the grand opening of the James Beard Public Market in downtown Portland! I got a sneak peek at the progress and can’t wait to be back for the ribbon cutting. This world class culinary market will bring residents and visitors to downtown to shop, eat, explore, and learn at 40 small businesses. Thanks to the Market for your commitment to accept SNAP so more people can access the delicious food there.

Thank you to the @OSFM, @OregonGuard, @clackamasfire, United States Coast Guard, FEMA, and other emergency preparedness experts for showing us how they are preparing to protect us when there is a disaster. We know the Pacific Northwest is vulnerable to a major Cascadia event and these first responders are doing all they can to be ready.

I spoke with students, parents, educators, and advocates about creating a brighter future for children and strengthening our country's public education system. My Transforming Education for the Future Act will provide a well-rounded education for students, support teaching and learning, and address socioeconomic barriers to success and growth. bonamici.house.gov/media/pre…

Arts and culture are important to communities, democracy, the economy, and our future. The arts are healing, and especially important in these uncertain times. Thank you to arts leaders of NW Oregon, including the Oregon Arts Commission and Oregon Cultural Trust, for a wonderful event.

It was great to be back at the wonderful Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. Thank you to the National Parks Conservation Association and @RepDexterOR for the conversation about how we can keep fighting to preserve and protect the peoples' parks.

Firearms are the leading cause of death for children in the United States. We MUST reverse this and make the safety of our children a priority.

I spoke with local elected officials, business owners, and community organizations affected by delayed mail delivery in Astoria, and I visited the post office to try to get some answers. Mail service is basic infrastructure that communities need and depend on. I will continue to demand that USPS do better.

It’s a difficult time for Oregonian children, families, educators, and community members. Here are a few local and national resources on mental health and surviving gun violence. Please continue to be there for each other, share resources, and do what you need to take care of yourself and loved ones amidst this terrible tragedy.

As a parent and policymaker, my heart is breaking for the students, families, teachers, and staff at Silver Rail Elementary School and the entire Bend community. No parent should have to wonder if their child will come home at the end of the day. The epidemic of gun violence in schools across America must come to an end. Children deserve to feel safe--and be safe--in school.

Thank you to the Coalition of Slavic and Eastern European Organizations for visiting my office and for your advocacy. I will continue to fight this administration’s inhumane immigration policies and support programs that assist immigrants and refugees.

Great news for Oregon! We cut the ribbon for the PSU Jordan Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design, where students will learn, creativity will thrive, and artists will connect with the community. And it’s made with mass timber! As a strong advocate for arts education, I enthusiastically welcome this new addition to PSU and Portland.

Everyone deserves accessible health care, and cuts from HR1 (Republicans’ Big Ugly budget Bill) are endangering Oregonians’ health care access and funding to places like CAP NW. I will keep fighting until Oregonians have access to the care they need with the safety and dignity they deserve.  @EqualityCaucus @HouseDemocrats

A public execution by firing squad is bad enough, but live streaming it would demean us as a nation. There is no doubt that the man in question committed a heinous crime, but this kind of spectacle goes against our values. I join many members of the military and the faith community in condemning this plan and I am callling on Secretary Hegseth reverse it. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

It was an honor to celebrate two former colleagues whose work on transportation shaped our state and nation. Representatives Blumenauer and DeFazio spent decades fighting for policies and resources to support multimodal transportation—including bike infrastructure—and Oregon is a better place because of them. It’s fitting for their work to be celebrated with a mural at the Portland Airport @trimet MAX station.

Donald Trump and his corrupt administration are abusing power and weaponizing the Department of Justice against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. This baseless pre-dawn raid of the Representative's home just a few weeks before a federal election is outrageous and dangerous. I stand with @Ilhan against this despicable act of political intimidation.
