Great roundtable in Burlington with Energy and Commerce Chairman @RepGuthrie on the historic new steel mill coming to Lee County, and the energy it will take to power it.
1,700 permanent jobs are only the beginning. A project this size needs more natural gas, and that means even more jobs and opportunity for Iowans who watched their work get shipped overseas for far too long.
Iowa is an energy and manufacturing powerhouse, and it is ready to lead. I will fight to make sure we do. 🇺🇸
I visited the Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center in Muscatine to learn more about their important work protecting children and supporting families.
We discussed the rise in cases they are seeing, the threat of online predators, and the need to strengthen online safety for children. We also talked about my SPY Kids Act to protect children from exploitative online research and my Conversational AI Services Act to establish safeguards for children interacting with AI chatbots.

Today, @POTUS signed two bills led by @RepMMM and @RepDavidValadao strengthening domestic manufacturing and protecting Americans from fraudulent actors on online dating platforms.
Republicans are delivering on strengthening good-paying jobs and keeping Americans safe online.
Today, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, President Donald J. Trump signed into law:

I’m proud that my bipartisan Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act was signed into law, helping bring manufacturing back to America and create good-paying jobs for Iowans.
America cannot continue outsourcing the production of critical goods and good-paying manufacturing jobs to foreign adversaries like Communist China. We must strengthen domestic manufacturing, secure our supply chains, and ensure America can produce the essential materials our nation depends on. 🇺🇸
President Trump’s $25 million whistleblower incentive program helps hold fraudsters accountable by protecting and rewarding those who expose waste, fraud, and abuse.
My Medicaid Whistleblower Protection Act would strengthen protections for those who speak up. Whistleblowers who raise legitimate concerns should be protected, not punished for doing the right thing.
My bipartisan Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act was just signed by President Trump and is now law!
This legislation lays the groundwork for bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. and creating good-paying jobs for Iowans. I’m proud to have led this legislation to put American jobs first! 🇺🇸
Today @POTUS and @FLOTUS signed the Advancing Women's Health to Improve Outcomes in all Phases of Life Executive Order to expand medical research, diagnosis, and treatment for conditions that affect women.
As a physician, I know how important research and treatment for women is. I am proud to have championed early detection through my Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, advanced education, awareness and breast cancer screening with my EARLY Act, and help provide new mothers with essential supplies for their babies postpartum with my NEST Act.
We must continue advancing research, prevention, and access to care to improve healthcare for women at every stage of life.
Curt and I are saddened to hear that First Gentleman Reynolds is facing a recurring cancer diagnosis. We’re praying for successful treatment and strength for him, and comfort for Governor Reynolds and their family during this difficult time.
We’re pulling for you, Kevin! ❤️
Day one of the Biden presidency, Keystone XL was canceled and thousands of union and non-union jobs were gone with the stroke of a pen.
That was no accident. Obama delayed the pipeline for years, Biden killed it, and the Democrat agenda has been the same ever since: block American projects and send your jobs overseas.
Iowa is doing the opposite. A $15 billion steel mill with up to 6,000 construction jobs and 1,750 permanent jobs. $95 billion in economic activity.
A project this size also needs new natural gas and water infrastructure, which means even more good-paying work for Iowans. But all of it only happens if Washington lets it.
Put Democrats back in charge and every job tied to this mill is at risk. I will fight to make sure it gets built and the jobs stay in Iowa.
Iowa taxpayers work hard to fund programs for those who truly need them, and fraudsters should never get a dime of it. That's why I signed the Vice President's Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud.
I will always fight to stop fraud before payments go out the door, protect seniors and the vulnerable from scammers, and make sure those who cheat the system face justice. 🇺🇸
High taxes, burdensome regulations, and policies that drive up the cost of doing business make it harder to attract major investments and keep good-paying jobs at home.
Iowa is showing what’s possible when you make it easier to invest, build, and manufacture in America. 🇺🇸
Veterans stepped up for us, and they deserve care and opportunity when they come home. Great to join the Quad Cities Veterans Network in Davenport, connecting veterans with employers, services, and each other. I will always fight to expand their access to mental health services and health care. 🇺🇸
I enjoyed speaking with students in the University of Iowa School of Journalism’s Political PR class about my experience and communication strategies in Congress. We discussed the importance of authenticity and staying true to who you are when communicating with journalists and Iowans.
Toured the University of Iowa’s Department of Physics & Astronomy and Iowa Spaceflight Laboratories to learn more about investments in facilities and student training made possible by the $1.5M NASA grant I helped secure through Community Project Funding.
These investments are helping advance aerospace technology, innovation and education, strengthen Iowa’s workforce, and support the development of an aerospace corridor in Iowa.
Had a wonderful meeting with Eastern Iowa realtors from the Iowa Association of REALTORS to discuss the state of Iowa’s real estate market, interest rates, and legislative initiatives to increase housing supply and inventory.
We also discussed fair housing, the National Flood Insurance Program, and the importance of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act in keeping Iowa homes in the hands of Iowa families.
Great to stop by SSAB for the Circular Steel Milestone, hosted together with Alter Trading and The Greenbrier Companies.
It was exciting to see these three companies working side by side to advance steel recycling, strengthen partnerships, and support Iowa steel production. Iowa steel is thriving, and I will always fight to keep it that way.
I’m excited to see $24 million in federal funding through the DOT’s INFRA Truck Parking grant is headed to Iowa to improve I-80 rest areas and create 150 new truck parking spaces along I-80!
I championed this project and sent a letter of support to USDOT to help secure this funding for Iowa. I’m proud to see this investment headed our way to improve safety and support our hardworking truck drivers.🚛
Nothing says Iowa like a Casey's pizza! 🍕
Got to spend time with the Casey's team in Indianola, hear what it takes to serve Iowa communities every single day, and even try my hand at making their famous pizza. Great people, great pizza, and proof that Iowa businesses are built on hard work. I will always fight for the Iowans who keep our communities running.
