Congress has sole authority to decide when and how we go to war, which is why I introduced a resolution to destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program by July 30 without putting boots on the ground or dragging America into another endless war. Learn more at barrett.house.gov/iran.
There’s still time to submit entries for the Congressional App Challenge. I look forward to seeing what mid-Michigan students have designed. Visit barrett.house.gov/app for competition details.

Scammers are using increasingly sophisticated tactics to steal from seniors. That’s why I joined @RepMGP to introduce bipartisan legislation establishing a 24/7 hotline and website to make it easier for seniors to access resources, report suspected fraud, and help law enforcement crack down on scammers.
Good.

Happy birthday to the U.S. Navy! Thank you to every sailor who has put on the uniform — past and present — to defend our nation at sea and around the world.
I enjoyed hearing from local business leaders during the @LansingChamber’s Economic Club luncheon last week. The program featured a discussion on challenges to Michigan’s water infrastructure. The U.S. House has approved funding I requested for mid-Michigan water supply and drain projects, and now it’s time for the Senate to get it done for our communities.
Agriculture is the backbone of our rural communities. Michigan farmers work hard to feed and fuel the world, and today we celebrate them and recognize their hard work and dedication. To farmers across mid-Michigan: Thank you for all you do.
It’s time for the Senate to pass the Farm Bill. Learn more about this historic legislation we passed in the House earlier this year:

I’m grateful to @JAMidMichigan for inviting me to their “My Government and Me” event with students in Lansing this past week. We had a great conversation about what it’s like being their representative in Congress and how they can participate in our system of government.
Thanks to everyone at Clinton County Catalyst for having me at your monthly legislative meeting in St. Johns. I appreciated the opportunity to connect with local residents and small-business owners and share an update about my work in Congress. Your partnership is critical as we work together to strengthen our communities.
The rapid development of AI, which has potential to improve our society, has also exposed serious dangers. These risks cannot be ignored, and my new bill will create a seat at the Cabinet table for an official to monitor AI technology, ensure strong guardrails, and prepare us for this new era of technological innovation and beyond.

Secretary Hegseth should seriously reconsider this decision.
Nidal Hasan is an evil person. He betrayed our country, killed 13 American soldiers, and wounded dozens more at Fort Hood — a place I trained the year before his brutal attack.
That does not change the fact that our American values should strive to elevate human dignity. Making a public spectacle out of an already tragic situation is unnecessary and does not serve a public interest.

My Michigan trip took me from our @USGSA team in Detroit to the shop floor at Highland Engineering in Howell. Thank you to @SBA_Kelly and @RepTomBarrett for joining me to meet the small manufacturers powering local jobs. ow.ly/lMu950ZVS2z

We’ll never forget the horrors of October 7th.
Humbled to join @michiganstateu students with @RepTomBarrett, @HouseGOP Chairwoman @RepLisaMcClain, @RepCarlos, and @RepDaleStrong to remember the victims and their families and to stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters across the nation.
Three years ago, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel to brutally murder more than 1,200 innocent lives, including 46 Americans, and kidnap more than 250 hostages. Tonight, @SpeakerJohnson and I gathered with students at @michiganstateu to honor the victims of this horrific attack and reiterate our commitment to standing against antisemitism around the world.

Thanks to Highland Engineering for hosting me, @RepTomBarrett, and @USGSA_Ed today! Founded 40 years ago in Howell, MI, this 3-generation business has a 60-person skilled workforce that builds critical infrastructure for our warfighters. With the Trump Admin putting American industry and workers FIRST, they’re growing.
Fair Trade means Made in America is back. And the Working Families Tax Cuts mean NO TAX ON OVERTIME — allowing the hardest-working Americans to keep more of what they earn.
At Highland Engineering and small businesses across mid-Michigan, people work hard to do their jobs and provide for their families. I proudly delivered no tax on overtime, no tax on tips, and other relief, and I’ll keep working hard to lower costs. Thanks to @SBA_Kelly and @USGSA_Ed for joining me to see the good work people are doing here in our communities.
Early testing for rare and chronic diseases can save newborn lives. Our bipartisan Surge to Save Newborns Act will provide grants to states to update newborn screening to ensure the full range of rare diseases is tested, detected, and treated.
Clinton County Catalyst brings together community and business leaders to collaborate and make the county an even better place to live and work. I’m grateful for their leadership and partnership in strengthening our region, and I appreciated the chance to connect with so many this week at their Annual Dinner.
