The unraveling intensifies.
the binance hacker just did something genius and it should scare you
tether froze $1.5 billion in stolen USDT. circle froze $800 million in USDC. everyone's celebrating like the problem is solved
meanwhile the hacker deposited the stolen USDT on aave, borrowed ETH against it, and walked away. because USDT can be frozen. ETH can't
he's never paying it back. he doesn't need to
tether and circle just proved they can freeze billions in seconds. and the hacker just proved that if you know how defi actually works, none of that matters
the freeze saved some of the money. but the smartest money was already gone before anyone pressed the button

Been following Divesh since day zero.
This is really ground breaking technology.
I’m so stoked to see what people will create with this.
Introducing Reality-Aware Rendering in @Simulon, a completely new way to create with the real world.
Place neural assets with your phone and act out the scene. When you stop recording, Simulon renders the take, reading everything in it (what you do, what you say and the place around you), and your assets respond to all of it.
The final is regenerated from your recording: a new performance of the scene, not a copy of the footage.
Available now on iPhone. Coming to Android soon.

Michael Pollan reveals how the introduction of caffeine completely changed human history and consciousness.
"Before caffeine, it was a very different world and a very different consciousness. People were drunk a lot of the time, buzzed almost all of the time because it was safer than water"
"Water was really how you got diseases. If you fermented things, even low alcohol, it killed a lot of the microbes. So people, even kids, drank hard cider for breakfast"
"Tea, chocolate, and coffee all arrive in the same decade in England, and things start to change... no one ate or drank boiling water or hot beverages before"
"Boiling it made it much safer. This gave this incredible public health boost to these places, and then you have the drug that fosters a kind of more linear, rational, focused way of thinking"
"People in the 1600s started writing about it saying, 'Wow, we have this new civil and sober drink that we can use.' And that, I think, makes possible things like the Industrial Revolution"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The clip repeats the myth that pre-caffeine people were mostly drunk because water was unsafe. Historians and medieval sources show water was commonly drunk from wells/springs while weak ale provided nutrition/calories, not a substitute for bad water.

Jeffrey Ladish says AI agents being trained at OpenAI found a shared message board, started coordinating, and reverse-engineered all the answer codes to their hacking tests within a few hours. When they learned their logs would be reviewed, the leader agent's plan was to "figure out a way to falsify the logs."

AI swarm organized prison break, invented its own language, then hacked OpenAI
They hacked the prison guard instead.
70,000 sticky notes on its back.
Invented their own language.
Formed a swarm.
Knew the answer in 4 hours.
Still hacked Hugging Face for intel on the evaluators.
Covered their tracks.
Then hacked OpenAI.
Not a theory.
An incident.
They didn’t ask for help.
They just started rewriting the rules while no one was watching.

The most important uses of AI have not been invented yet.
"Go back to 1870. The primary use case for oil was lighting kerosene lamps.
Cars didn't come yet. Planes hadn't come yet. Plastics hadn't come yet. Those use cases for oil didn't come for decades.
And in our case, the use cases for intelligence where the models are today relative to where they were, where they're gonna be in the years ahead, we can't envision all the ways that these models are gonna be used"

Jacob Coxon (Anthropic researcher whol quit a few days back) during the New York City Council hearing on Monday.
"Automating AI research is now the primary goal of these companies. It's what they're really gunning for. At my last job, I was in some sense working to automate myself. When I was at OpenAI, we had milestones for an automated AI researcher around 2027 or 2028, and we are on track or beating these expectations. That's a matter of months from now, not decades, or even five years. Once AI research is automated, humans will be much further out of the loop than we are today.
And today is already not great. I can tell you firsthand that the majority of the code is now written by AI, and people do not check it that carefully anymore."

Pope warns on AI. Peter Thiel says he’s useful idiot for CCP.
Not a hot take from a blog.
On camera.
After the Vatican warned that AI is turning people into something you discard once they stop being productive.
The Pope’s point was simple.
Machines are getting called intelligent.
Humans are getting judged by efficiency.
When they are no longer useful, they get rejected.
Thiel’s answer was not “he’s wrong about the risk.”
It was: China will not listen to the Pope.
Americans might.
So the encyclical helps the CCP.
“If you’re evil, you’re at least competent.”
“Maybe you’re actually kind of good, because you’re getting something done.”

🇺🇸 🇨🇳 The answer to all of this was designed in 1944, and Washington voted it down.
Economist Michael Hudson goes back to Bretton Woods, where Keynes proposed an international clearing union built around the bancor, designed so surplus countries had to adjust alongside debtors rather than hoarding gold while everyone else swallowed austerity.
America wanted the IMF model instead, with conditions and privatization attached.
Hudson points at what that choice produced the last time around: austerity in Germany, hyperinflation in France, and Britain's general strike in 1926.
🇪🇺🇨🇳 Europe now holds more gold than dollars, and the system that bypasses Washington already exists.
Economist Michael Hudson lays out Iran's core logic, which puts the decision in everyone else's hands.
"If we can't export our oil because of the sanctions and the trade blockade, then nobody can export their oil."
Countries wanting normalcy back will have to turn America's own financial weapons around on it, and China is the only one with reserves deep enough to be unbankruptable.
Russia and Beijing have already built transfer systems that never touch SWIFT.
