Storywriters, some cliches aren’t cliches because they’re actually payoff points in a genre.
Subverting just to subvert won’t save a story, it’ll only date it instantly.
Instead, think about HOW you build to those moments to give them new weight.
I have so many posts I want to make about the Jedi Order, beliefs, Council, Anakin/Obi-Wan, and more.
That’s why the Prequels, especially RotS, are so good. I don’t care about the “lacking artistic quality” if I get THIS MUCH mileage out of a story. Endless discussion potential.

On that note, I think this scene is where Obi-wan truly epitomized the Jedi way
He has every reason to hate and want Anakin dead
But in the end his words disparaging him aren’t of anger, but grief and sorrow at what his little brother has become
He loved all his brothers and sisters, and he grieves them, but he accepts they’re gone and doesn’t give into hate

Without doing a deep dive like I did for The Last Jedi, I still am confident that Rise of Skywalker has twice as many flaws and stupid goofs. I have a sizable list of issues already.
I’m too scared to do a full rewatch-analysis though.
Got fired up writing about Obi-Wan and wanted to expand on him and give a brief tie-in of some of the Jedi Order's failures. Check it out if you're interested.

The more you dive into the books and really analyze the movies, the more you realize just how much Obi-Wan remained the most solid, consistent, honorable man of all, even understanding the Force in a more healthy manner than Yoda, Windu, or the rest of the Jedi Council.
But he doesn’t blindly accept the Council’s view of its omnipotence either. He acknowledges that what may come to pass may come to pass, but he doesn’t relent to “fate”.
The Kenobi novel also shows his musings on how accurate the Council was on the Force’s role in one’s life.

Hey everyone give @Critical_Scribe a look, he’s a really cool guy who writes some awesome books that show heroism and traditional values, you won’t be sorry, trust me
Let me hear your guilty pleasure films. I want to hear about the ones where you're aware of gaping holes, lacking narrative structure, stupid goofs, and the sorts, but dang it if it isn't fun to you.
Be bold. I want to see some disgustingly controversial picks.

This is the stuff I miss more of in modern superhero stories; the civilian aspect. Seeing how these heroes inspire others to change for the better and live their best is the best part about the genre.
Last night, Mr. Bazooka called while I was rage-playing Halo. I hung up on him four times before screaming into the phone. We yelled back and forth for an hour before I asked why he was even calling and he told me.
Thank you Mr. Bazooka for this tremendous honor.
'Merica, baby.
It is my honor to announce @RileyEatsGood as my vice president. Together, we will eliminate streaming platforms and give everyone blu-ray players, and all the movies and tv shows on blu-ray, then we will cut those prices by 3/4.
