I agree that "they need to go bang, bang" is an overworked cricket cliche. So I suggest South Africa really need to go bang, bang, bang at Newlands.
Incredible day's play. Oz right back from the near-dead. I guess the Proteas' approach to their 329 must now be: 'Well, we've got 'em. They've gotta get 'em.'
The Aussies chose a great new nut from the box. Quite possible SA dismissed by stumps now. Starc on fire.

Proteas need to be really careful, suddenly. This could just prove to be the series tilting point. The slump has been that dramatic, even with acres of the game left.

What a fabulous spectacle at Newlands. Wonderful cricket by SA and the city’s people supporting the test in droves. Terrific TV pictures. What an advert for this country!
As well as seriously addressing the bad and holding people accountable, let’s talk up what is world class. The Cape is showing us how.
My only question is are more players of colour coming through the cricket system? Just a question looking forward. Rugby seems to be well in front. Comments please.
There were signs before lunch that wily Lyon would draw Ackerman out of his crease. Now stumped for 95. Still, a big statement in just his second Test knock. Played with freedom and chutzpah.

Basically, Scott Boland is not judged according to his performance or form. Marnus Labuschagne lives to fight another day. This is madness. #SAvAUS

Beautiful day in the Mother City. Interesting that Australia would bowl first. Normally bat first at Newlands. Been warm and windy in Cape Town. #SAvAus 🇿🇦 🇿🇦

Looks like a bat first pitch so far…..Cummins decision more “I trust the bowling more than the batting”. sign of the twilight time for this Australian team
The more you think about it, after last Test match, the more you think Oz have done Scott Boland a real dirty at Newlands. Such bad messaging.

As exciting as the backline selection was we honestly can’t have three mavericks in the decision making axis. Having Sacha, Simelani & Gelant in the same backline is akin to playing Russian roulette
Major injury carnage or not, the Stormers' defence is worthy only of winces today. Scarlets runners cutting them to shreds!

It's very very poor from the Stormers. No game management to speak of. And they continue this Harlem Globetrotters nonsense which, almost without fail, gets them into trouble.
