Just struggling to comprehend that the @guardianopinion editors must be all ‘har har har we’ve really triggered the wokerati EV mob today’, Telegraph style.
YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE THE GOOD GUYS.

Lots of people talking about #fusion as a silver bullet. Bullets however are generally thought of as quick. No sign that fusion will be at commercial scale in anything like the timescales necessary to tackle climate change.

We’ve been working really very hard on new music and we can’t wait to share it with you. In the meantime, we’ve signed a handful of records (Stranger Today deluxe albums plus the last 4 live at St Pancras records) and we also have some CDs and tees going !!

It seems like there is something (or a range of things) in their model which inflates all estimates of freight emissions.
They're just way too high.
If this is the case it undermines the entire output of the work.

This does not mean climate change isn't happening, or that it doesn't pose a risk.
With continued climate change we run the risk of reversing this progress in reducing disaster deaths.

This is an incorrect interpretation of this.
Deaths from natural disasters *have* fallen over the last century because the world has become:
1) Richer
2) More resilient to them
3) Better at predicting them
4) Faster to respond and cooperate in crises

There is no #ClimateEmergency
Deaths from all types of natural disasters including weather are down 95% over the past century. What we have is a #ClimateScam

It's important to understand this is how gas works. It's no good being 10p on a day we don't use it. The high prices are driven by the global demand to secure gas over Winter. We can't store today's cheap gas, and if we could, it wouldn't be cheap as the demand would be greater
RJS Energy retweeted
Today, you'll hear that wholesale gas prices are dropping.
Indeed, today it's 10p/therm. Normal prices are about 40p. Today is warm and we don't need much, so supply>demand.
HOWEVER - gas for delivery Dec-March is £4.00 as the world tries to make winter work without Russian gas.

The idea that EV prices will not change for the next 30yrs is literally incredible
As in, not credible

More than double, but not as much as 25-times.
More like 6-7 times reduction over the last 100,000 years.

Today seems like a good day to share this amazing graphic of UK land use
(I estimate solar farms cover less than one tenth of one percent of the UK – 0.08%)

It’s great that this package is targeted, the most vulnerable should be helped first. But effectively the government is now pouring £150 billion into a leaky bucket, and only spending 1% of that to fix the holes.

We're going to need a portfolio of different clean energy technologies to rapidly + efficiently decarbonize the energy systems.
No point demonizing copper mining + pointing the finger at renewables when copper will also be used in distribution lines, electric cars, buildings...

Pessimism sounds smart. Optimism sounds dumb.
But this is a narrative that gets in the way of solving problems and moving forward.

Heating with hydrogen from renewable energy is 6 times less efficient than using the same electricity in a heat pump. I don't know a single serious energy analyst not affiliated with the gas industry who thinks hydrogen heating will be a thing. @Jacob_Rees_Mogg please call!

It’s unclear why the government has chosen not to award any fanfare to lifting the ban on popular, cheap and green onshore wind. Especially when lifting the ban on unpopular, expensive and environmentally unsound fracking has been much heralded. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Even the frackers are saying fracking won't work and won't help the energy crisis.
