Diane Abbott here saying that Travellers don't experience racism. Aside from how wrong this is in the modern era, it was, for centuries, a hangable offence to be born Romani in the UK. Gypsies were sent from the UK as slaves to the colonies on the same ships as African slaves.

Another sad testimony of discrimination Ukrainian Roma refugees face fleeing the war.
@guardian "Roma refugees face not only a lack of support but outright discrimination, both from relief providers and fellow Ukrainian refugees."

The Don Quixote adaptation by @Robgog is beautiful heartfelt and hilarious, keeping the spirit true, and reminding me of a line from La La Land - "A bit of madness is key/ To give us new colours to see".

RIP mighty Frank McD, whose manic 4 page dawdle to school in Krazy was my childhood drug of choice.
He seemed to draw (AND WRITE?!) 20 pages a week in Cheeky Weekly.
The loveliest lines, wrote the rules as he went, endless gags and immortal characters.
One of my real heroes.
Very sad to report the death of the incomparable #FrankMcDiarmid, the artist behind so many memorable comic creations like #RogerTheDodger & #Cheeky. He drew this artwork for me recently. A lovely, witty, talented man. @Irmanta08466759 @britcomics @johnfreeman_DTT @BeanoOfficial

Last year, we released research which found 55% of British people surveyed were unaware that over 500,000 Roma and Sinti people were killed in the Holocaust.
Roma communities continue to face high levels of hate in the UK and across Europe. (2/5)

All in all, @robgog's Motherless Oven series is a vividly realised masterpiece in the finest tradition of speculative fiction: critically examining our world through an alien but disturbingly familiar analogue, while entertaining us with an exciting tale and compelling characters
