I am grateful for precious time spent with family in recent weeks. We have gathered for enjoyable occasions, including a family dinner, a holiday gathering, and, most importantly, a celebration of the birthday of my wife, Kristen.
Â
On behalf of our entire family, I express deep love and appreciation for all that she is and all that she does. She exemplifies the love and teachings of Jesus Christ in countless ways. She has helped me to become a better husband, disciple of Jesus Christ, and Church leader.
Â
I encourage each of you to cherish your family relationships. Family is a divine gift from our Heavenly Father, designed to help us progress through the experiences of mortality.
Â
The whole purpose of mortal life is to prepare us for a heavenly destiny in a family organization. As we look toward that sacred future, let us express gratitude for our families.
Â
With love,
President Oaks

The Book of Mormon is a great witness that the Lord loves all people and reaches out to all, everywhere.
The Book of Mormon adds to our knowledge of how our Savior’s earthly ministry reached out to all of His scattered flock.
Book of Mormon teachings contradict the erroneous assertion that the grace of God saves only a chosen few.
The Book of Mormon teaches that our Savior "inviteth ... all to come unto him" (2 Nephi 26:33). His grace is for all.
Similarly, the Book of Mormon tells us that the children of God in “every nation” have His promise that He “manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost” (2 Nephi 26:13).
These promises from the Book of Mormon are true.
I call upon all to act on these truths and to share them with others, that we may all draw closer to Jesus Christ, our Savior.

What Jesus Christ told the Samarian woman at the well applies to each of us today:
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14).

This is easily the dumbest thing I’ve heard all year.
The fraud in the system is not the problem.
Exposing the fraud in the system is the problem.
That’s why they’re being prosecuted.
James Edward O’Keefe, 42, and Cam Higby, 26, both face felony charges of unlawful voting and identity theft.
Polling places are the heart of our democracy. Any attempt to disrupt or deceive our election workers will not be tolerated.

The disciples watched Jesus die on Friday, not knowing what Sunday would bring.
What looked like the end was only the beginning.
A reminder that some of life’s greatest blessings come after its darkest moments.
Don’t lose faith in the middle of the story.

Three hours before kickoff today, the visiting fans set up tents at an elementary school outside Orlando and started unloading thousands of pounds of food.
None of it was for them.
All of it was for students at the school they came to play.
The visitors were BYU.
The food goes to the Knights Helping Knights Pantry at UCF, which started in 2009 as a class project and is now run by students for students.
Last school year it gave out more than 185,000 pounds of food across nearly 60,000 visits. About 400 UCF students walk through it on an ordinary day.
Roughly 35% of UCF students say they deal with some level of food insecurity.
BYU fans have been doing this at road games since 2019. They call it Cougs Care, and the local alumni chapter picks the charity in whatever city the team is playing in.
Last November in Lubbock they ran a book drive with Texas Tech fans for Literacy Lubbock. It was supposed to be one tailgate. It turned into a week.
Here is what the Texas Tech side said about that.
"Everyone wanted to help, so we decided to make this a weeklong event."
They collected more than 6,000 books. Andy Reid went to Brigham Young University. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech. Both of them pushed it online.
In Ames, Iowa they collected coats, shoes and blankets, and they did it in the name of a man from Des Moines named Charles Good, who in 1856 gave new boots to a group of children walking west. They were paying back a stranger 169 years later.
At East Carolina they filled the Purple Pantry with more than 5,000 pounds.
Tyler Stahle of BYU posted pictures from under the tent in Oviedo this afternoon while the food was still coming in.
Last season the whole thing brought in 76,500 pounds, which was 15 times what it collected the year before, and the number of people taking part doubled to 26,500.
The last time BYU played in Orlando, two years ago, fans left about 2,000 pounds for this same pantry.
The tailgate was open to both sides, and UCF fans came and gave to their own pantry alongside them.
Be honest about the size of it. One tailgate does not fix a campus where a third of the students are short on food, and the University of Central Florida is one of the largest schools in the country. The drive is also run by BYU's own alumni association, which means it is good for BYU too.
And the pantry is not the only thing on that campus that needs filling.
BYU lost today. UCF won 39 to 31 in double overtime.
The food was already stacked on the tables by then. The cans were counted, the bags were loaded, and none of those people knew yet whether they had driven across the country to watch their team lose.
They handed it over before they knew.
When was the last time somebody did something for you with nothing in it for them.
Thanks to @tstahle15 for sharing this story!

Joy doesn’t come when we get more. It comes when we are grateful for what we have. If we spent our entire lives thanking God, we’d barely scratch the surface of all He has blessed us with (Mosiah 2:21). Gratitude reminds us of the reasons to be joyful right now.

Elder Stevenson shared a fantastic definition of peacemaking with global religious leaders last week.
In his remarks at the G20 Interfaith Forum in Salt Lake City, he taught:
"Peacemaking, peacebuilding, is a Christlike attribute. It is not a weakness, but strength. It requires courage, humility, and a willingness to extend understanding without surrendering principle. Peacemaking means approaching one another with open hearts and extended hands."
The Brethren’s focus on peacemaking continues on the world stage.

BYU SHOULD BE THE #1 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY.
