Tonight was a loss for Trump. It was also a loss for the Republican establishment that hates Trump.

“I blame this on @GregAbbott_TX. I blame it on @DanPatrick . I blame it all on our leadership. Thinking they’re going to go for four terms as Governor. Four terms as Lt. Governor. Seriously?! If they campaigned on lowering your property taxes all that did is remind everybody why you didn’t do it 12 years ago.” - @DonHuffines #txlege
Texas midterm prediction: Republicans lose statewide offices for the first time since 1994 (or come dangerously close). This isn't endemic to Texas going blue. The Texas Republican Party is flaccid and brought this on itself. Republicans have controlled the governorship, House, and Senate for 24 years. Abbott and Patrick have held office for nearly half of that time. A two-year budget up from $209B to $338B in a decade. A House speaker elected by 49 Democrats and 36 Republicans. Property-tax patches without a lasting fix. If our rally cries center around cultural wars, we’ve lost the plot. Texas needs a revival. New leadership. Bold execution. Maximal freedom. No more pandering to leftists in Austin. After the dust settles tomorrow, my bet is on @DonHuffines emerging as the de facto leader of the Texas Republican Party.

@GregAbbott_TX loses to @GinaHinojosaTX in Texas. Let that sink in. This stems from years of terrible progressive policies by Republicans at the federal, state, and local levels. Unfortunately, those problems may worsen under Democrats until people learn from the policy failures a select few of us have warned about for years.
“Before coming up here right now…I made the decision to call @GinaHinojosaTX and congratulate her on winning this race for governor of the great State of Texas.” — @GregAbbott_TX

Most poorly aged tweet I can remember making, and there have been a few. I’m way more depressed about the results, though, than my defective crystal ball.
My prediction -- and I'm really stepping out here -- is that our side will do better than the overwhelming majority of the fatalistic, gloom-ridden defeatists are smugly forecasting.

Agreed. Been trying to message gas prices, housing prices, and healthcare for a while… but hard to crack through. “Dems bad” only gets you so far…
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis: Some of these Republicans are saying, "Oh, well, the gas, don't worry. It's no big deal." Or they're trying to blame Biden. No, no. Listen, we've just got to be honest. Gas is higher. It hurts people, working-class people, and it's higher because of the Iran conflict. That's just the fact. If you can't admit that to voters, then you're gaslighting them, and they're not going to listen to you on other things.

@MikeDiaz285 The end of the line for Dan Patrick. Buying votes with pork and big govt spending finally caught up with him.
Vikki Goodwin declared victory over Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick on Tuesday to become the first Democratic lieutenant governor of Texas in 27 years, handedly dismissing an architect of the modern Texas Republican Party who pushed the state further right in his nearly two decades in public office. bit.ly/4Af2TSg

@MikeDiaz285 Texas State GOP could have ran on eliminating the ISD tax by holding the line on spending. They could have used every cent to buy down and eliminate the ISD tax. Patrick refused and decided to spend it on Hollywood tax credit giveaways, new state dementia hosps, teacher pension bails out, and more corporate welfare for oil, gas and nuclear industries. Yep, going Democrat lite never works.

Sometimes you get your ass kicked, and deserve it Tonight is one such time for the Republican Party Way too many mistakes. Bad messaging. Poor candidates. High prices. Unnecessary war that did not go as promised. We get up tomorrow and carry on. But there are lessons here.

Congrats to @brianeharrison for being reelected again! One of the few policymakers in Texas with principles grounded in liberty, free markets, and personal responsibility. Keep fighting the good fight!
It’s official… I’ve been re-elected! To the people of House District 10: THANK YOU for sending the most conservative, most effective fighter for LIBERTY back to the Texas House of Representatives. To the people of Texas: I’m committed to fighting harder than ever to make Texas the freest, most prosperous, and most pro-LIBERTY state in America. God bless Texas; pray for her.

PSA: the reason Texas and Florida have been appealing is because of conservative policies. Voting for people who reject those policies will make these states as bad as the ones you’ve left.

The Republicans were crushed in the 1974 midterms. Reagan later delivered a speech explaining why: ♦️ “The meaning of the last election will not be found among those who voted. It will be found among those who stayed home—the biggest non-voter bloc in our nation’s history. And why did they stay home? Well, because they said they couldn’t see any difference between the two parties.”♦️ There’s a lesson in that worth remembering. You can’t win voters by simply telling them how bad the other side is. You have to give them a compelling reason to vote for you. Stand for something. Be bold, unapologetically conservative, offer a clear contrast, and most importantly, deliver on the promises you campaigned on. Voters need to see a real difference, not just hear about one.

This was the problem in Texas today. The Texas GOP with their big govt swamp spending and high taxes have made themselves no different from the Texas Democrat party. Time to rebuild with bold colors no pale pastels. @MikeDiaz285 @iNormMc1 @TrueTexasTea @MQSullivan @RealSteveBellow
